Remember him best from Far From the Madding Crowd, and Billy Budd ( which was his first film if I remember correctly). R.I.P Terence.

Ohlifelife · 17/08/2025 18:34

Oh my goodness how sad.
He was just wonderful in Far from the madding crowd. The talk of the the sixth form.
Such an icon of his time.
And then I was totally amazed when my son became enthralled by him in Star Wars.

AwkwardPaws27 · 17/08/2025 18:43

He was truly wonderful in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

mauvaiseherbe · 17/08/2025 18:44

with Jean Shrimpton, impossibly beautiful, shared a flat with Michael Caine,
lived at The Albany,
looked straight at me once, on the Mall, as though HE knew little ME - reader,
I thought I would faint,
an icon indeed

Pedallleur · 17/08/2025 18:45

He was a very talented actor and a very striking man. Had his shoes made at Cleverley in London (useless fact). His brother Kit was involved with The Who in the early years on the production side. That picture on the BBC of him with Jean Shrimpton. She was stunning.

mondaytosunday · 17/08/2025 18:45

Oh no! My DD and I just watched Pricilla the other night! He was amazing. Beautiful man.

cobrakaieaglefang · 17/08/2025 18:55

Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert is brilliant...hope it comes onto Netflix soon!

HarryVanderspeigle · 17/08/2025 20:37

Very sad. He was wonderful in Priscilla.

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/08/2025 20:45

Priscilla Queen of the Desert is one of my favourite movies. Mostly Partly because of Terence Stamp's magnificent performance as Bernadette.❤️

KatyPerimenopause · 17/08/2025 20:57

RIP Daffodil Loved Priscilla and The Limey
I think Priscilla 2 was in pre-production?
Not sure how much of a cameo/Bernadette part was. Hopefully, they can rescript it and have that character's funeral as a reason for a reunion.

Arlanymor · 17/08/2025 21:01

And Waterloo Sunset… “Terry and Julie…”

He’ll always be Sgt. Troy to me: “This woman is more to me, dead as she is, than ever you were, or are, or can be.”

FreezeDriedStrawberries · 17/08/2025 21:10

🥲 Absolutely loved him in Superman.
"Kneel before Zod!"
RIP 💔

Gonksmum · 17/08/2025 21:14

I liked him too in Poor Cow, as well as Priscilla. RIP.

It's very sad, such a wonderful actor. I met him once and he was absolutely mesmerising face to face.

LuxuryWoman2020 · 17/08/2025 21:35

He was wonderful! Absolute icon. The man had Rizz as the kids say.

AdaColeman · 17/08/2025 21:49

He was so stunning in Far From The Madding Crowd.

upinaballoon · 17/08/2025 22:16

Yep. Sergeant Troy.

Was he ever in an Italian film called Profondo Rosso? Maybe I'm mixing him up with someone else.

I think I am mixing him up with someone else - sorry, - but not about being Sgt. Troy.

mauvaiseherbe · 18/08/2025 00:27

@upinaballoon if this was a bloody murder film it was David Hemmings
not Terence Stamp but they resembled each other didn’t they

You need to watch Priscilla, it's brilliant. Not seen it for years, a rewatch is due.
