I’ve redecorated my sitting room and I’m really happy 😊

Moved into the house after my divorce 3 years ago, and it’s taking me forever to redo it and generally make it feel like home. Combo of lack of time/money/being arsed 😁. But I’ve had a week off work while the DCs are at their dad’s house and I’ve repainted the sitting room at last! It was very drab before, and I feel like I’ve added some personality. Maybe not to everyone’s taste but I’m happy and just wanted to share!
happy to post a picture but the app won’t seem to let me 🤨

@Whatshesaid96omg grey rooms can get in the bin, so depressing

It was the top half of the living room, up the stairs, on the landing and in three of the bedrooms. I honestly think in Covid they bought a job lot of grey and white paint. I think they were taken in by the grey phase but dark grey wasn't the craze at the time 😂

Aw shucks vipers 😁. I know the fireplace is fabulous, there is another one in my bedroom but the previous owner has not only stuck crap mdf shelves onto it, but put up crappy louvre door built ins in as well. That room should be my next project but it’s a massive job, I need to take off textured wallpaper as well as remove the dreadful wardrobes. So it will probably need to be re-skimmed which is way beyond my ability!

I also did mine a few months ago with a farrow and ball green shade. I love it too. Enjoy your new colourful surroundings.

That’s absolutely beautiful. I love Green Smoke and used it for my kitchen cupboards so I’m biased. Enjoy your lovely sitting room.

Franpie · 17/08/2025 19:29

Gorgeous room and colour.

Re the fireplace, I have a similar one with the same tiles. You can get really good tile paint from Rust-Oleum in a variety of heritage colours. I recently painted my tiles a mustard yellow. I love it, it has given the room some personality.

MrsPositivity1 · 17/08/2025 19:37

Not wishing to commit myself, I may or may not have added a picture to my Pinterest board! I’m looking to move into a Victorian house and have been collecting inspiration - your room is lovely. 😊

EmeraldShamrock000 · 17/08/2025 21:38

Well done. I love it. Feeling inspired.

WingSlutz · 17/08/2025 22:29

@tothelefttotheleftyes! Amazingly I have managed to keep it alive for about 4-5 years including a house move. Apparently it thrives on total neglect 😂

Sounds like second bedroom at my house 🙈. Lots of potential but also lots of work

Loving your work so far
