Crush behaviour - just me? (light hearted)

You know when you get a little crush on someone? Even if you're happily settled in a LTR. Even if that person is a million miles away, or just someone on the telly who you will never get to meet.

Do you find yourself starting to take better care of yourself? I don't know why, maybe some deeply entrenched instinct, but I start eating healthier, flossing regularly, maybe exercising, shaving, and generally taking more care to make myself physically better.

It's so easy to get into a rut, and although I try hard to look after myself for my family, there is nothing like a little crush to sharpen the mind a bit.

As a 40 something mum, many many years into a LTR, feeling like this occasionally I think is no bad thing.

To all you puritans who say they never have another crush once they've settled down (I know you're out there from past threads on the subject) I DON'T BELIEVE YOU 😄

Er, nope. I get crushes all the time, including on people I know and see in real life and it's never inspired me to do anything like that.

springbabydays · 17/08/2025 11:42

Are you already taking excellent care of yourself though @IMissSparkling ?

If not, perhaps it is just me!

Absolutely not, I haven't even brushed my hair today!

I have a lovely TV crush that I've had for years, but I take good care of my appearance anyway. He just makes my vibrator get more usage.

PomegranateVase · 17/08/2025 11:54

@springbabydays

I’m exactly the same!

Every time I get a new crush I start going to the gym again and eat more healthily and lose some weight. I also buy more revealing clothes, and this time I’ve been gone so far as buying sexier lingerie and getting a Hollywood wax.

I’m feeling so much better in myself and I’m more smiley and confident and I’ve been getting a lot more male attention which has been lovely as I’ve felt completely invisible lately, and this further boosts my confidence.

When the crushes wear off though I tend to revert and often spiral into a state of depression so I’m not looking to this - especially as this time around it has been a huge crush!

I totally understand, probably because I’ve been trying to lose weight for a while now in case I randomly bump into Yungblud 😂😂😂😂

I wonder who that is?

& no, I don't do that.

Oh amazing! So pleased someone relates 🫶

Not so good about the depression though. Can you channel those feelings more positively when the crush wears off somehow? Like make yourself the focus regardless?

@springbabydays

I try my best, and this time I really will give it my best shot - it has either not worked before or it quickly wears off and my depression comes crashing down on me.

springbabydays · 17/08/2025 14:17

Wishing you all the strength babe 💪💪 @PomegranateVase

@PomegranateVase same here. It’s a huge crush for me and I’m happily married. And he’s in a relationship. And he is my son’s teacher. Not good!

Eatally · 12/09/2025 16:36

I completely relate. Very happily married but have a huge crush on a very random actor. It made me take a closer look at myself and gave me the motivation to start going to the gym, and I’ve lost over 4 stone as a result!

That's bloody amazing! Well done 👏

Does your husband know about your crush?

Sigh. My current one is on the other side of the world but you know, planes exist so you never know 😆 paints nails
