Recommendations please for a post graduation meal in London. Family of four, all adults. Want something nice but not £150 per head. We don’t drink. Ceremony is at The Royal Festival Hall. Not what we’d usually do so very excited but no idea where to go for a meal.

How exciting 😊 There's a Cote brasserie there, we've not been to that particular one but we've been to lots and not had a bad meal. Expect to pay about £35-40. Make sure you book as it'll be busy. Have a lovely day.

Brasserie blanc is a little bit nicer than the usual chain but not too expensive. Lots of chain restaurants on south bank.

Skylon the restaurant in the Festival Hall is nice. Great views of the river and decent food.

Also the restaurant in the National Theatre just 2 minutes walk along the river looks nice too - I haven't eaten there but had my nose pressed against the glass yesterday. 😀

Afternoon tea at The Library at County Hall is a short walk away and quite nice, if that appeals? Views of Big Ben.

The Delaunay in Covent Garden. Not cheap but not £150 a head. Nice service. They have an afternoon tea option.

Skylon is the easiest and most obvious. They usually do a set menu as well as a la carte. But you will have to book.

Thank you all, some great suggestions here that we will look into.

After a graduation at the Royal Festival Hall we had a splendid meal at OXO, I think it was the brassiere we went to that time but both the brasserie and restaurant often have set menus at a reasonable price.

Trishna, if you fancy curry, which is the sister restaurant of Gymkhana or Rules, for good old fashioned English food in Covent Garden. You may get a table at Gymkhana, if you've got enough time to book ahead.

Ah I think I know which university this is 😊 Hope you have a lovely day!

Roast in Borough Market is lovely

Hottoffeesauce · 19/08/2025 08:39

Oooh, more lovely suggestions, thank you everyone. I’ll give all recommendations to the graduate and let them study menus and choose a venue. Now, what to wear ……

Look and see if the pricier ones do early evening menus that are v good value

My DD is graduating in the Festival Hall next month as well so thank you for starting this as was wondering where to eat! Enjoy your day

I suggested Skylon as it's where we went after a RFH graduation and it was nice to be in the same building (especially after the champagne reception - hic ) Plus it's a great view and it just anchors you to the place you are in in terms of the celebratory day. Lots of folk taking photos, etc. Happy families milling about. Plus it was easy to meet a couple of extra guests who didn't get tickets to the ceremony. It meant that we weren't thinking about getting to the next place, iyswim.
