Sudden need to DIY

Has anyone ever had a sudden deep urge to do diy? If so how did it go?

I've never done any diy before but yesterday I was out in my garden and out of no where had a sudden urge to sort out the bbq area. After a bit of help with chatgpt, I've got a plan to lay slabs to make a little designed area for the bbq. Nothing fancy just a few rows of slabs, unless any mumsnetters have any better ideas?

In essence this post is to ask for a diy handhold because my confidence is lacking in my ability and also does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy slabs ?

Thanks Mumsneters Flowers

Started the area today and so far have done:

Cleared away all my many pots
Moved the bbq out of the way
Raked and shoveled up bark and moved away into piles
Mapped out the area with string
Cut away all the weed membrane and lifted it all up.
Calculated how many slabs I need

I now have my area ready to start digging. Will get that done during the week. I've had a look on b&q and picked out slabs. Just need to work out how much gravel and sand I need.

And by some miracle, didn't break any of my nails.

Sorry you have not got any replies. Sounds like you are doing a sterling job and have made really good progress! Well done you! Fingers crossed it goes smoothly!

Thank you @RigIt Flowers it's ok, I know slabs are a pretty boring subject compared to other threads around these parts 🤣

Ah no less exciting than loads of threads!! Take some before and after pics, would love to see the transformation! Am v impressed at you taking this on by yourself. I get very overwhelmed with DIY!
