How can I clean my sofa arms/base?

DD(5) and I have recently relocated after being stuck somewhere we really didn’t want to be - I ended my relationship and we moved somewhere gorgeous, we’re very happy.

Because my ex remains in the house we lived in together, DD and I had very little to furnish the new house and so some things are second hand which is absolutely fine by me! However I’m now looking to clean our ‘new’ sofa. It has a few small marks on it but nothing major, it’s more just a ‘freshen’ up as it had been sat in a second hand furniture shop for a while. All of the cushion covers are now in the wash, however how can I wash the arms and base?! The covers don’t come off and I’m conscious of leaving marks if I go at it with something detergent based.

Any advice??

Hire a carpet cleaner with an upholstery attachment. I hired one from a hire shop rather than the supermarket one. It was a karcher cleaner, I got it for the day it was £25.
use biological washing powder and hot (but not too hot as you’ll melt the pipes!) water. It will come up a treat. Just make sure you wipe down any wood or paintwork the water hits.
