Bogus threads

This is my first ever thread although I do lurk and occasionally respond to threads.

Some posts seem blatantly fake to me, posters claiming to have been married over 20 years but their language is that of a teenager.

Overly long descriptions too, I think mature women tend to reveal minimum of details.

Is it just me being a cranky cynic?

No the language used in some thread's is a give away and the constant repeat of same answer to any advice given.

No there are loads of them 🙄 just pass them by

Overtheatlantic · 15/08/2025 18:13

Yeah, don’t worry about it.

Why are we not allowed call out posters who we think are trolls ?
There have been a few threads where a poster has been very upset about something and many kind posters replied giving good advice but the poster never comes back. I believe those OPs are trolls.

Just realised that bogus sounds weird from a middle aged woman. Had a feeling we couldn't use the words spoof or wind up.

Thanks for the replies.

@deeahgwitch We are allowed to call out trolls. Just not openly on the thread. You just report the thread to MNHQ. Use the report button, and one of the options is 'not a genuine poster' and you choose that. There is also space to comment if you wish.

TheOtherAgentJohnson · 15/08/2025 23:19

Yeah most of them are bullshit, best not to get invested—AIBU is just a diverting way to procrastinate from work.

Thank you @blacksax
