Could it be bed bugs 😱

Hi mumsnetters,

I just moved into a new build a couple of months ago. My daughter was reading in bed last night and said she saw lots of red bugs in her bed and on the wall. I went into her room straight after she told me and saw nothing. She does have 1 bite on her ankle, otherwise nothing and has said that she’s seen these a few times in the last 3 weeks. I showed her some photos and she thinks it does look like an adult bed bug.

I have checked mattresses and there is none of the ‘usual’ tell tell signs, I have checked her room thoroughly, the carpets are new and there aren’t any nooks that I can see. We did use a man and van to move and I stupidly didn’t wrap the mattresses.

Do you think I could have an infestation or is it another funky bug!

bed bugs are quite distinctive, I have read they hide in photo/picture frames and similar and not just beds. The bites are also in a formation-if you look them up you will see what I mean. I hope she is mistaken.

Me too! It definitely wasn’t a formation. She has got a good imagination, I will get some pesticide and treat everything just in case. There is no evidence on the mattresses or sheets so will keep you everything crossed!

I think with bed bugs.

She would have loads pd bites.

Have you been on holiday anywhere recently?

Or in a different hotel.

Anyone slept over??

Cos otherwise. She would have had bites for months????

The only thing I can think of is the move and not covering the mattresses in the van, that was 4 weeks ago so I would have thought she would have had more bites if it was BB.
