Has anyone any ideas for a 18th birthday gift for a male relative please? Budget around £100. Hobbies are reading and gaming. Due to go to uni but will be living at home. Thanks

Voucher for driving lessons
New gaming headset

Carriemac · 14/08/2025 19:44

Cuff links and / dress studs

I'd go for a £50 book voucher and a £50 Nandos voucher.

Other gifts my son received...crystal shot glasses, a weird watch (I can't tell the time with it at all. He loved it. A physics/science theme), fancy booze.

Is this John Lewis and marks and Spencer? For an 18 year old?

Yes, huge range of electronics, clothes, food.

Vouchers anyway, or a cash gift.

Thanks for the suggestions.
He seems to have zero interest in learning to drive, he was offered lessons by his parents for his 17th.

I’m not inclined to give cash tbh. He has a part time job that he’s been doing since last September, he earns decent money but still needed to be bailed out by his mum and dad to go on holiday with his girlfriend and her parents. Think hundreds of pounds on taxis and take aways.

@AlwaysFreezing the science watch sounds interesting, do you know the make?

I dont. But I do know it was from present indicative. Ill have a quick look now and see if I can see it.

Edited to add, that it seems to be unavailable! It was called a higgs boson watch. I can see them online but not to buy in the UK. Do check out present indicative for interesting maths and science related gifts.

A portable bang&olufsun speaker. That’s exactly what I just bought my 18yo niece
