GOLF - come and tell me everything you know, to help me decide if I want to go there!

I'm mid 50s and I'm looking at my future and have long thought that golf would be a good option for me. My mum was a keen golfer and it gave her a great social life and got her out and about staying active well into her 80s.

Any MNers out there who are golfers? Are you members of a club? How did you become members? Is being a club member enjoyable? Would you recommend it?

Any MNers who have learnt in middle age? How was that experience? Where did you go to learn? How did you do it?

Anything else that you can think of?

Following with interest ! All my boys are obsessed golfers snd we are just back from our second visit to St. Andrews ! It all seems to lovely that I really want to start . I used to play as a kid ! My boys said to start at a driving range so that’s what I will do .

Why don't you have some lessons and see if you enjoy it?

I think I will @BellaBlister . Where do I go for lessons though? Just a local driving range?

I had lessons at a local golf club and at a driving range. Have a look on their websites, prices can vary. My husband and children play so I thought I'd give it a try. I was terrible! But I did enjoy it.

My DH got into it at 55. Each year he has joined a different golf club, he started a posh one, them a middle one and now one on a course inside a council park. He hasn’t made any new friends but now does now play with relatives who also got into quite recently. He had 12 lessons at the posh club.
