Chips And Scraps

Is this still a thing? Such good memories of buying a bag of chips & batter scraps after Friday night youth group. I lived up North back then & it was common but you don’t see it offered here in Cornwall, at least I haven’t seen it. Guess it wouldn’t hurt to ask!

Oooooo I love scraps! Covered in salt and vinegar. Yum!

(Yorkshire)

Our local chip shop (in Cornwall) does scraps if you ask. My lot love them! Only thing I miss and can’t find here is gravy, so I have to have curry sauce instead 🤷‍♀️

Yes it is a thing here but I don't live in Cornwall. Just ask. My mouth is watering now for fish and chips, mainly the fish.

Yes definitely a thing in south Yorkshire still. Dc2 would prefer a bag of scraps to a bag of chips anyway!

I live North East by the sea and we have scraps, however family in Chester say they can’t get scraps so not sure if it’s more an up north/seaside thing more than a general chippy thing

mumda · 13/08/2025 09:30

Marks and Spencers sell them.

Marks and Spencers sell them.

They would! (Nothing against M and S at all. Aah, a 'new line from M & S'.)

Chips and bits where i’m from. You can definitely still get them. They’re best when they’re absolutely soaked in vinegar.

Ooh this takes me back to my northern days.

"Any scraps pet'll?"
"Ermm, sorry what?"
<Friends laugh in northern>
"Vinegar's on the counter...."

Delicious😋

I knew a man who always had salt and vinegar in his car, in case of unexpected chips and scraps. Half way through they always need a bit more even if they're saturated in the chippie.
