devuskums · 12/08/2025 23:55

Have a good holiday!

arethereanyleftatall · 12/08/2025 23:55

Nothing.

but I’ve been on a thread like this before, and was definitely in the minority.

we don’t have anything to hand in our own house either, or it will be out of date if so.

devuskums · 12/08/2025 23:55

Ooh and that avon spray that repels mosquitos

GiveItAGoMalcom · 12/08/2025 23:57

Just a few plasters and maybe a bandage.

Unless you're going to a very remote place where there are no hotels/shops/bars with first aid kits.

Mmhmmn · 12/08/2025 23:58

Paracetamol, savlon, plasters, rehydration sachets in this day and age ☀️ 🔥

stripeymonster · 13/08/2025 00:05

Paracetamol, ibuprofen, plasters, piriton, sting relief, hydrocortisone, insect repellent, thermometer. Calpol.Movicol sachets. Just back from 3 weeks in Italy and used all of the above. The pharmacy's are expensive. Six pounds foe a box of paracetamol. Also bought rehydration sachets.

Trovindia · 13/08/2025 00:07

Plasters
Paracetamol
Burn stuff
Antihistamines
Savlon
Blister stuff
Mozzie bite stuff

Usually don't need it but if we don't take it I'm guaranteed to need it!

WhenYouSayNothingAtAll · 13/08/2025 00:08

Plasters
Painkillers
Sudocrem

minipie · 13/08/2025 00:13

I have a travel medical kit which includes a few each of the following:

Calpol chewable
Nurofen chewable and adult nurofen
Imodium
Piriton
Kwells
Plasters various sizes/types
Rehydration sachets
Anbesol (DD and DH get mouth ulcers)
Antibacterial cream
Bite cream
Ovex (after a tricky time trying to get it/the equivalent in a pharmacy abroad)
Gaviscon tablets

All been used at one time or another. Takes up very little space. Kids inevitably hurt themselves or feel ill at a time when no pharmacy is open or nearby or in a country where what you need is prescription only.

DiscoNights · 13/08/2025 00:17

Paracetamol
Nytol
Immodium
Electrolyte sachets

notanothersummercold · 13/08/2025 00:17

Always take Rennie as we eat and drink more on holiday!

UpMyself · 13/08/2025 00:18

hand sanitizer
needle (for removing thorns)
aspirin/ibuprofen
Rennies/Bisodol
Germolene/Savlon
tweezers/scissors
antihistamines
plasters

Condoms if you use them/might need them.

Testerical · 13/08/2025 00:19

I’d only take things I might need in an emergency. For me, sumatriptan, Ibuprofn, antihistamine and an inhaler for one of my kids. Same as I’d take if visiting anywhere outside home in the UK.

You can get anything else there from the excellent local Farmacias. Parafarmacias I find useless - like expensive Superdrugs with nothing useful. if you regularly rely on OTC medicines like painkillers, antihistamines, I’d take them with you not because of lack of availability but because you can’t just pick them up in the supermarket, and sometimes pharmacies are closed for lunch/ the weekend etc.

UpMyself · 13/08/2025 00:24

Tampons/sanitary towels (not first aid but if you need them, you'll be glad to have them).
Baby wipes.

NewLifeLoading · 13/08/2025 00:25

Antibacterial hand gel & Antibacterial wipes
Suncream & Aftersun

Bite Spray, bite cream, Mossy plug ins, Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, Plasters, Sudocrem, Rennies or immodium, antihistamines

If you have children, Thermometer, Calpol & Nurofen

fretaway · 13/08/2025 00:29

This year we forgot to take the first aid kit with us when we went to France. Lo and behold dd comes off her bike on a gravel path.
We had a few plasters but no where near big enough and the supermarket didn’t have any. a friend had some thank goodness. I really recommend taking some large dressing pads/plasters, (mix of waterproof and breathable),
antiseptic or antiseptic wipes, cotton wool and antiseptic cream!

UpMyself · 13/08/2025 00:30

Sun cream and SPF lip salve

BlondeFool · 13/08/2025 00:31

Nothing. The Spanish chemists are far superior to ours

TheGirlWhoLived · 13/08/2025 00:33

I take my standard first aid mini (medium) box everywhere! It has rennie, savlon, sudocrem, Imodium, plasters, paracetamol, ibuprofen, calpol, anbesol, safety pins, tweezers, nail clippers, antibacterial wipes, prednisolone (ds gets croup A LOT), loretadine, anthisan, an asthma inhaler, a couple of smallish dressings and a small bandage! I take the medicine out of its box to make sure everything fits in, but I’ve not had something crop up I can’t handle immediately yet…

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 13/08/2025 05:55

unless I am going to the back of beyond I’ve never not been able to get what I need in Spain.

DEET - Jungle I have extremely sensitive skin and don’t want to risk a reaction. It also works and I get bitten to buggery.
Gaviscon
Small squeezy bottle to fill with vinegar there - 🪼
usually have paracetamol floating around in my bag

citygirl77 · 13/08/2025 06:14

Plasters
Tape
Steristrips
Insect Repellent and hydrocortisone.
Paracetamol, piriton and antibiotics (UTIs)

True, same for lots of European countries but it's useful to have things to hand if you're out for the day or need them late evening or in the night. We usually travel independently so don't have a tour guide to advise where pharmacy/ doctors are.
I take plasters, mediwipes, paracetamol, ibuprofen, immodium, rehydration sachets, sting relief. Most of which I just remove from the medicine cabinet at home. When the children were younger I took a thermometer too.

This. Didn't even bring germolene this time (currently in Spain). Did bring bite cream and antihistamines for itchy bites.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/08/2025 06:26

I’m currently in Greece and regretting having forgotten antihistamine cream for a bite.

Usually I pack that, some pain killers, Savlon, plasters and a couple of waterproof dressings.

BadActingParsley · 13/08/2025 06:51

I always take immodiu, paracetamol and gaviscon. Even in uk as useful to gave without shopping. The immodium is probably out of date.

Also rehydration sachets if abroad as husband has form for getting dehydrated. He's an idiot.

Further flung places I've taken antibiotics with me.
