Last minute.com connecting flight problem

My friend is flying to Dubai on Friday booked through last minute.com

She is going via Dublin as we struggled for availability due to booking late. When we did the search it just came up and she booked both flights as one booking which was their “recommended” . Flying out of a regional airport with aer lingus to connect to a Dubai bound emirates flight.

I am not clear what happens if the Dublin flight is late and she misses her connection. The booking is all on one reference but obviously it’s two different carriers. She has to check in for each flight separately. No warning came up on the last minute.com search page to warn that connection is at own risk.

I am now panicking that the Dublin flight will be late and she will be stuck there with children with no assistance.

I have looked at the last minute site and it’s not clear what happens. If as I suspect she is on her own can anyone recommend an insurance product that covers this.

Aer Lingus have an interline agreement with Emirates so she might be okay. However, that very much depends on the booking T&C so she needs to check with last minute.com direct. The rule of thumb is never book flights through a consolidator etc as they often have different (more restrictive) rules of carriage. Always better to book direct with an airline.

Assume she has travel insurance for all her party?? If not, she needs to get some!

Thanks that is helpful. I’m not sure on travel insurance and also whether it would cover missed connection. I’ll ask her. It’s a flight that is listed if you search on emirates but she booked through last minute.

Just as an update for anyone interested - the booking was under one itinerary so they are covered. Phew could have been a disaster given the particular flight out of the UK is late more often than on time.
