Crack on the head, get it checked out?

Posting in chat for traffic. About an hour ago I took an almighty crack to the right side of my forehead just above the hairline (at the park with toddler DS, thought he’d got himself stuck on the climbing frame so I ran to help and ran straight into a horizontal metal bar).

I didn’t black out and there’s no blood but I swear I heard an audible crack, and now have a bump under my hair that’s very sore to the touch, and if I raise my eyebrow so move the muscles in that part of the scalp it’s also very sore.

I don’t feel sick at all but a bit spaced out. If I close my eyes I feel a bit dizzy.

Definitely not an emergency and I’m not in unmanageable pain but with it being a crack to the head I’m not sure if it’s worth getting it checked out anyway? Or what to keep an eye on otherwise? There’s no walk-in centres or 111 where we are so it’d be A&E or nothing.

TIA

How are you feeling now? 111 would probably tell you to go to a+e to be on the safe side.
Are there any other adults in the house?

Still a bit dazed and sore but otherwise ok. My neck hurts a bit too which I think might be a whiplash effect of my head stopping moving forward so suddenly, I’ve no idea how I didn’t fall over backwards. DH is here so he’s looking out for any change in me and looking after DS.

Thankful that I didn’t knock myself out as there was nobody else in the park at the time.

Can someone stay with DS? If so I'd take yourself (in a taxi, don't drive) to A&E, head injuries aren't a joke and they will triage you quickly.

I really think you should get it checked out. I hope you have by now.

Just checking in to say I survived the night! The bump has gone down and just sore to the touch now so hopefully no major harm done. Will remember to look where I’m going at the park in future!
