Colposcopy

I’m posting in chat because previous posts in women’s health aren’t as seen and I’m really looking for experiences of others please.
I have high grade severe dyskaryosis and a colposcopy booked for Friday.
the Monday immediately after I have a caravan break holiday with my kids and other half and I’m suddenly reading things that are concerning me about after effects of colposcopy and that our one 4 day break away this year will be ruined by pain and bleeding etc.
are colposcopies/ potential biopsies going to ruin it?
thankyou

No. In my experience, it's a quick and straightforward procedure, with no after effects.

I can only speak for my own experience but I had it last year and it absolutely would not have spoiled anything at all for me. No issues whatsoever, no pain/bleeding etc other than a tiny bit immediately after. Don’t worry x

That’s extremely encouraging thankyou. Obviously I know it’s important but I don’t want my kids little break away to be rubbish because of me

I had CIN3 and had LLETZ at colposcopy. I ended up with heavy bleeding and infection after, but it was within 48 hrs I started bleeding more. Had to change a pad every hour at its worst but the bleeding quickly settled once I started antibiotics. I felt generally ok and actually went on a night out with my friends the next day (I was quite young when all this happened).
I'm sure I was just unlucky, hopefully you'll be absolutely fine.

Thankyou. Don’t get me wrong, I’m more worried about the actual health stuff but my kids deserve a lovely few days away without this getting in the way. Part of me thinks should I rearrange the test but my other half is firmly against this and I suppose the speed at which they’ve arranged it all says I ought to do it and be grateful they’re so on the ball.

Any other experiences? Thankyou

Had CIN3 so had to have a colposcopy, biopsy and LLETZ procedure. Apart from very light bleeding for a few days (only needed a panty liner) I was fine. No pain at all

Sux2buthen · 15/08/2025 12:44

They ended up doing the LLETZ, I wasn’t expecting it so I was a bit shaky but would say not as bad as I expected. I was mostly overwhelmed and a bit shaky but all in all that’s done 👍🏻she did specifically say it’s not cancer so that was the best possible thing to hear.
Im so impressed with the quick turnaround of getting the appt and having the cells out. Just over a week. Fantastic

I've had a few colposcopies and they were all totally fine. Mine were without any treatment needed though so I can't speak for biopsies or anything else.
