It does matter. They are two separate words with two completely different meanings, and it is straightforward to decide which to use.

You're is short for YOU ARE.
(So, for example, "you're looking very well.")

Your refers to belonging to, or associated with a person.
(So, for example, "your coat is in the other room.")

If you're not sure, just ask yourself if you are trying to say YOU ARE, or not!

Nobody likes the grammar police.

Bet your (sic) a barrel of laughs at parties.

Language matters; it's our main form of communication. It's not unreasonable to want to get it right.

Fwiw I had an ancillary technician when I was teaching who used 'brought' every single time. It used to confuse people when she said "I brought it last week" etc etc. Obviously I wasn't going to correct her but it wasn't great in a classroom either.

I completely agree. It's also great to keep learning through life. It's not a negative thing to notice and care about language usage.

Well done for figuring that out @marshmallowfinder

Do you have SEND or are you just a bit slow? You seem a bit old to be confused about that.

Bit harsh. No need for this.
