How much screen time on play dates?

Just that really. Whenever DD (8) has a friend over, she is constantly asking for screen time. This is when I might be WFH so can’t easily take them out. Plus we have a big garden and lots of toys so it’s not like there is nothing to do.

So today, before lunch they had about half hour/ 40 mins on the tablet playing a game and now they’re happily playing but DD is asking to watch TV. I’ve said no for now.

What do other parents do? I feel At this age they should be encouraged to play actual games rather than virtual ones or passively watch TV.

I agree OP. At that age my DD would go and play make believe stuff when her friends came over. They would play dressing up and everything inbetween. Tbf that was about 9 years ago so we didn’t even own an iPad back then, though I had an iphone and obviously we had the TV, but they used to just entertain themselves.
