In May I had strep throat and had a ten-day course of antibiotics. Afterwards, I developed oral thrush for the first time ever.
The first time two times I was given a single dose of Fluconazole which got rid of it, but it returned. I was then given a week's course of Nystatin which did the same, but it returned. I have then taken Fluconazole for a week twice, but it's just returned.
I have also taken probiotics and changed my toothbrush.
I am seeing a doctor tonight to have it swabbed - but last time they asked me what treatment I wanted.
Has anyone had recurring oral thrush, and how did you get rid of it?
I was thinking of asking for a longer course of Fluconazole and then a few weeks of a preventive dose (one a week) if the doctor agreed. But any ideas appreciated!
(I do take a steroid inhaler but use a spacer, and have done all my life with no issue).
