Reoccuring Oral Thrush - Six times!

In May I had strep throat and had a ten-day course of antibiotics. Afterwards, I developed oral thrush for the first time ever.

The first time two times I was given a single dose of Fluconazole which got rid of it, but it returned. I was then given a week's course of Nystatin which did the same, but it returned. I have then taken Fluconazole for a week twice, but it's just returned.

I have also taken probiotics and changed my toothbrush.

I am seeing a doctor tonight to have it swabbed - but last time they asked me what treatment I wanted.

Has anyone had recurring oral thrush, and how did you get rid of it?

I was thinking of asking for a longer course of Fluconazole and then a few weeks of a preventive dose (one a week) if the doctor agreed. But any ideas appreciated!

(I do take a steroid inhaler but use a spacer, and have done all my life with no issue).

Oh I do feel your pain on this! I've just started on some probiotic lozenges today to try and combat this. They have a couple of reviews that say they got shot of oral thrush. I'll update after a couple of days on them if they're helping or not.

I've found the holy grail! I do my inhaler, then take my medications with either a Yakult or Actimel live culture shot, swishing it around my mouth thoroughly, then don't drink or eat anything for half an hour. It's now cleared up after it being lumpy, sore, coated and cracked.
