Naked biker riders - has this been through your town, did it make you use your car less? ?

On the way into town yesterday and there was a bit of a hold up on the way, not unusual on a Saturday lunchtime.

As we moved along towards the town centre I realised it was the Naked Bike ride lot. Around 20-30 people biking along at a snails pace. From what we could see they were all men and all older men at that. I had no idea yesterday was our town's lucky day for this event as I don't read the local news etc.

Now, I am all for body positivity and have no problem with nudists or naturists expressing their bodily freedom but within their own spaces (nudist beaches, campsites etc).

A quick google tells me these events are a peaceful protest about the over use of cars, oil and global warming etc but surely most people are going to look at a load of naked people on bikes and go 'Ahh, my eyes, my eyes' or 'Well, that was weird' and move on with their lives, I can't see many people googling to find out why these guys were stark bollock naked and think 'Oh yes, I must use my car less'

All I saw yesterday was a group of old nude men (I didn't see any woman), one was even wearing a weird kinky looking rabbit mask. I know there are lots of people supporting these guys or saying it's really nothing to get hot under the collar about but let's be honest, surely, for some of these people it's a major kink or they are just exhibitionists who will use any old excuse to get their kit off in public. Or maybe at 52 I have just had a gut load of men and 20-30 wrinkly old over-tanned bodies riding towards me when I was just getting on with my day was enough to give my perimenopausal gut the major ick yesterday (although it even turned my dd18 stomach green and she loves wearing next to nothing!).

Sorry but no one wants to see old blokes dangly bits. Yuck. That would have put me right off my lunch!!!

Allseeingallknowing · 10/08/2025 15:07

Poor things- they must be so saddle sore…

Vintagenow · 10/08/2025 15:09

Yes to have they been through my town/city.
No, didn't change my driving habits. Just reinforced the fact there are so many weirdos out there that I prefer to not use public transport.

To answer the person who wondered why an individual would be arrested for riding their bike naked, I believe it would be a Public Order offence - Behavior likely to cause fear or alarm. I'm not sure how a big group of them get away with it but perhaps the police don't want to deal with their wrinkly old asses!

Just pointing out that in England, there is no law about "not having clothes on" which is a state. There are laws against behaviour which is slightly not the same.

My pearls remain firmly unclutched. .

Zanzara · 10/08/2025 15:43

Frankly it would make me more likely to use my car if I thought I was going to run into that bunch in town. A physical barrier between us would be all to the good as far as I'm concerned.

RedRiverShore5 · 10/08/2025 15:44

I thought it meant use it less in case you run into them.

RedRiverShore5 · 10/08/2025 15:47

I'm sure the naked rambler got arrested sometimes, isn't that the same or are these folks safety in numbers

That’s true. But it’s not difficult for the police to secure a conviction for outraging public decency or for exposure.

Riding bicycles naked in groups around Colchester is not an act predominantly just of free expression. It’s intended to disgust and alarm.

There’s a very funny report of one of these weirdos who got his (metaphorical) collar felt for being “over excited”.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 10/08/2025 15:49

Urgh saggy bollocks waving around are not my idea of a good view tbh.

Tollington · 10/08/2025 15:49

The idea is to get people talking about them

Seems to have worked lol

LittlePigRobinson · 10/08/2025 15:52

Dogsrbrill · 10/08/2025 11:51

Yeah I'd more more interested in fully clothed people clearing litter

I agree, but you're missing the point....pervs gotta perv (even when no one wants to see it) 😂

vegetarianlouise · 10/08/2025 15:54

I have no problem with a big group of young handsome men with good bodies riding bikes butt naked, I do have a bit of a problem with old guys with big bellies doing the same thing.

SecretNameforMN · 10/08/2025 15:55

I use a mobility scooter and one day going along the seafront promenade I became aware of a cyclist alongside me. My head turned to the left and I saw just a couple of feet away an old man's winkly, soft, uncircumcised cock and saggy, shaven balls, which, because I was seated, were directly in my line of sight. As his feet slowly turned the pedals, his cock and balls bounced up and down. I stopped and let him go ahead, which gave me a view of his creased and saggy buttocks. He was entirely nude except for sandals and must have been 75, at least.

I sat there for half a minute observing the expressions on the faces of the pedestrians coming towards me. They were all shocked, turning and peering towards him as though they didn't believe their eyes. There were children among the walkers, by the way.

I didn't think this was legal.

Do you have a problem with men waving their willies at your seven year old daighter, or is it ok if you think they are "fit"? There really isn't a difference. There are certain things that children do not need in the public sphere. That is not about prudery, it is about decency.

ImogenBrocklehurst · 10/08/2025 16:08

SerendipityJane · 10/08/2025 11:53

If I decided to cycle through town naked, I'd be arrested.

Why ?

Outraging public decency, probably. Possibly indecent exposure.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/08/2025 12:03

I’ve seen a load of them in central London on a very hot day, and TBH all I thought was a) that they were giving everybody on very busy Piccadilly a good laugh, and b) that many of them must have ended up with sunburnt willies.

My teenage DD still cites the day we saw them all going over the bridge while we were having lunch on Southbank as one of the funniest things ever. But we do always give rental bikes a wipe 🤣

Wowzerdowzer · 10/08/2025 16:23

Just using a poor excuse to be pervs

OriginalUsername2 · 10/08/2025 16:30

I’ve always assumed they’re just reminding everyone that being naked is natural or something.

ThatBlackCat · 10/08/2025 16:32

tinyspiny · 10/08/2025 12:05

They are nude because it works , it gets people talking and the issue they are protesting about gets mentioned and thought about even if it’s as an aside to the nudity . Would the OP have started a thread if they had been a big group of clothed cyclists - no so point proved . As to the actual point of whether it would make me use my car less - no .

No it does not work at all! It just makes me think they are a bunch of filthy paedophiles who need men to 'sort them out'. They're disgusting! It does not make me think about whatever issue they're pushing any more than Extinction Rebellion makes me think of their issue when they hold up traffic and ambulances. It just makes me hope someone runs the scum over.

MJ1980 · 10/08/2025 16:34

Surely thats indecent exposure? It wouldnt make me reconsider anything they are protesting about. I imagine they all use cars and travel abroad/eat food shipped from abroad.

a bit like those just stop oil lot, makes absolutely no difference to me in all honesty.

Oldknowe · 10/08/2025 16:36

Initially the naked bike ride through Colchester was a 'last minute' addition, scheduled to ride through the city just after the family carnival procession when the streets would be full of kids. There were a lot of complaints and the bike ride was rescheduled.
I looked up the law which stated it would only be illegal if it could be proven that the naked bike riders intended to cause alarm, shock or distress!
It's a loophole in the law and should be fixed I think. A perverts dream.

SerendipityJane · 10/08/2025 16:45

It just makes me think they are a bunch of filthy paedophiles

Why do you equate nudity with paedophilia ?

ThatBlackCat · 10/08/2025 17:05

SerendipityJane · 10/08/2025 16:45

It just makes me think they are a bunch of filthy paedophiles

Why do you equate nudity with paedophilia ?

Why do you not see that these men are going nude in front of children?

Would you still not think paedophilia if a man in a trench coat flashed his genitals to children in the street? What's the difference here? A bike??? Indecent Exposure is Indecent Exposure. What sort of man wants to expose his genitals to passing children?
