Meniscus tear?

I’ve torn my meniscus dancing at a wedding 🙄

I’m waiting for MRI Monday

i am completely miserable and unable to weight bear - also half way through a painting project which is also a bummer

just want to hear any positive stories really. I can’t bend or straighten my leg which means I am relying on crutches and wheelchair to get about. I do 8 Pilates classes a week and feel really annoyed because I am not inactive just 50.

Do you know it's a torn meniscus? Is it not an MRI that confirms it?

I tore mine in 2010. It was a 4 month wait for surgery, weight bearing was fine in that time. It was quite a nasty tear- they clipped it back together. I was quite young 30s and quite sporty. Had a full on leg brace for 6 weeks, then crutches. Had physio which I did absolutely religiously. Deep squats were not very comfortable for a while but it's absolutely fine and never gives me any problems. Can do everything.

Edited to add - the hardest part was the frustration as I have ADHD and need to move!

@BlackZebraStripes

yes, I went to see an orthopaedic surgeon yesterday who arranged MRI for Monday - he’s certain

I have adhd too so I am going crazy

crutches drive me mad and I can get around much fast in a wc so using that for cooking and housework

I have one at the moment - its a flap tear so not great. Sadly I was sent to physio first not orthopedics so it took a while to get it properly diagnosed. In that time there has been some cartilage wear and early stage osteoarthritis so now they can't operate as it is contra indicated. Having said that physio is helping.

I damaged my left meniscus on a flight last year. It was so painful I nearly threw up. Luckily I was coming home from holiday, not going. You have my utmost sympathy and I hope you get the treatment you need.
