Pls help… money is tight! If my payday falls on a Monday, will the money hit my bank account early?

So my question is in the thread title. But basically, I am paid on the 25th of each month. This month, that falls on a Monday. I’m wondering, will the money hit my bank account early? That would be very welcomed this month, as I’ve been hit with a huge bill and struggling to make ends meet.

Wth 25th being a bank holiday, at any company I have ever worked it would arrive on the Friday before. But I don't know if there would be any exceptions to that.

Hi, afraid it's unlikely, as Monday is a normal working day so there's no reason for it to be in any earlier. It's generally only paid early if your payday falls on a weekend or Bank Holiday.

The 25th August this year is a Bank Holiday so you should get paid the Friday before!

BiggerBrighterBetter · 08/08/2025 23:14

Sorry, just read properly and see you're due to be paid on the 25th. It could possibly arrive early then, but I'd check with your payroll department at work to be sure

It depends. We get paid early with a bank hol, husband gets paid late.

You need a Monzo account - then you can access your pay before it arrives. No use for this month but worth considering.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/08/2025 23:16

You should be paid on 22nd, assuming you're in England.

Minniliscious · 08/08/2025 23:17

You should get paid Friday 22nd - I usually get paid on the 25th of every month but it’s the Friday due to bank holiday.

I’m with Monzo, I can choose to receive my wage at 4pm the day before, which means if I was to get paid on a Monday I can choose to get it on a Friday, very helpful

Huh? My Monzo never lets me use money I don’t have yet

If my payday falls on a Monday it shows as available from the Saturday with Barclays.

Obviousjy this years being BH it will show from Friday anyway.

Mine does, at the top of your account where it tells you your transactions, usually a day or so before your money is due to come in it will show the amount and who from e.g child benefit £26.06, if you click onto it, it will tell you that you can collect the money, I use mine so regularly it actually sends me notifications to let me know it’s ready to collect

doodleschnoodle · 08/08/2025 23:23

Yes Monzo lets you access pending incoming transactions at 4pm the previous day. You just have to select them in the pending bit at the top and then you get the option. Handy sometimes!

If the Monday/pay day in question is Bank Holiday I would usually get paid the working day before (so Friday). Any other time would be same as usual pay day or working day before if falls at weekend.
