Coming into London Kings Cross tonight at 10.30pm.

Need to get to Royal Victoria Dock.

Planner says...
Thames Link at St Pancras to Farringdon
Where is the Thames Link in the Station???

At Farringdon get on the Elizabeth line from Farringdon to Custom House
is this a tube???

Then at Custom House it says get the DLR to Prince Regent DLR
whats the DLR

Says 41 mins total

Download the Citymapper app it's really good and will tell you which exit to use etc

DLR is docklands light railway, it works the same way as the tube
Elizabeth Line is the newest tube line
Thameslink is a train and not that often so would be worth checking citymapper when your train is nearly into Kings X to get the best journey

Thameslink can be found on Platform A and platform B of St Pancras. It's clearly signposted at St Pancras station. You'll be getting a train from Platform A.

At Farringdon get on the Elizabeth line from Farringdon to Custom House
is this a tube???
Yes, the Elizabeth Line is the new tube line running across London. It's clearly signposted from the platform at Farringdon station. It's 4 stops and you'll be travelling on a train towards Abbey Wood

Then at Custom House it says get the DLR to Prince Regent DLR
whats the DLR
The DLR is the Docklands Light Railway. It'll be clearly signposted from Custom House Elizabeth Line platform. It is 1 stop from Custom House to Prince Regent, and you'll be taking the train going towards Becton.

roundaboutthehillsareshining · 08/08/2025 15:22

Once you are at Prince Regent, it's about a 10 minute walk to Royal Victoria Dock. It is clearly signposted, just follow the signs.

Om83 · 08/08/2025 15:26

Could you just get northern line south bound to Bank then change there for the DLR?? Less changes?! Just make sure the DLR says it is going to Beckton so you can get off at royal Victoria docks.

otherwise if delays on northern line could also do circle line southbound to Tower Hill, short walk out from tube station over to Tower Hill gateway and pick up the same DLR.

just download the tube map.

Tryingtokeepgoing · 08/08/2025 15:26

I don't use Kings Cross, but the Thames Link platforms at St Pancras are underground, down the escalators at the far end of the lower level shopping arcade

Eggybreadwithnuts · 08/08/2025 15:27

Thank you everyone!!!! Very helpful. Just need to check Thames Link then by tbe sounds of it

Does the Thames Link, tube and DLR all run this late at night???

You’ll need to walk from Kings Cross Station to St Pancras for Thameslink. Come out the front of Kings X, turn right to the road the right again towards the St Pancras entrance on the road between KingsX and St Pancras. It’s about 150 yds up from the main Euston Rd on the LHS. If you go in that entrance to St P, Thameslink is on the opposite side of the station before you exit, barriers on the RHS. You’re looking for Southbound, so through the gates and straight down the escalator.
when you get to Farringdon’s, go up the steps to the main concourse straight across to the Elizabeth line escalator. Other instructions from roundaboutthehillsareshining takeover

That sounds much similar...wonder wbthy the planner didnt show that? so you reckon to just go to;

Kings Cross to Bank
Change at Bank onto the DLR

Im heading to the Aloft Hotel at the Victoria Dock

TfL Go app says yes, but get the Northern Line Tube to Moorgate and the Elizabeth line from there rather than Thameslink

Northern line to Moorgate

Depart Moorgate Underground Station

Custom House (for ExCel) DLR Station DLR to Prince Regent DLR Station

I always prefer less changes!! Sometimes planners show you ways that might be a minute quicker!!

just looked up where the hotel is on Google - so you’d need to stay on the DLR to Prince Regent then short walk (rather than Royal Victoria stop), but yes can absolutely just take northern line to bank and pick up DLR from there! Good luck!!

Doristheclitoris · 08/08/2025 16:13

I would get the tube to Farringdon then take the Liz line to Custom House - the hotel is 10 minute walk from there.

Eggybreadwithnuts · 08/08/2025 16:13

Just checked the address I put in - yes same one!! You can use your contactless card on DLR and it might be just the way the trains are running at that time if they’re saying to change as the DLR goes off in different directions!!

as you’re so close to Custom House for Excel just follow trains for that - it’s so well sign posted/ everywhere how to get there and then you are the next stop along x

Eggybreadwithnuts · 08/08/2025 16:30

@Om83 brill thanks so much, yes will listen out if we need to jump off etc. Phew feel much more relaxed now

@Eggybreadwithnuts it’s so stressful when you’re not sure where you’re going isn’t it!! enjoy your weekend!!

LIZS · 08/08/2025 16:53

Thameslink St Pancras is across the road from Kings Cross then downstairs, you need the southbound platform, the Elizabeth Line is on the underground, DLR is Dockland Light Railway

Eggybreadwithnuts · 09/08/2025 21:31

@Om83 just to say route was perfect, so easy...on the DLR just had to switch at Westferry to the Beckton train. 5 min walk to hotel. Thank you so much for yr help.
