I have one on my face that's changed , I'm getting it looked at by dermoscope next week, the thing with moles is its very hard to distinguish the dangerous from the benign. I'd say I only got referred because my dad had bcc and I mentioned it to the gp. Mine is actually the same colour as my skin . It's better to get them looked at . I had one removed from my stomach about 29 years ago under local , I'm actually terrified of ga so I'm hoping mine is OK to leave but who knows. Please don't be worried about it usually it's nothing and if it is something you've caught it and are dealing with it. I spent about 2 months looking at it everyday after my dh pointed it out hemming and hawing on whether I would be wasting the GPS time but I'm glad I did

It's not possible to tell the normal from the problem ones. GPs refer to dermo for this reason. I've had one removed, not a problem.
Under local though. I'd be surprised if they used a GA, it's a minor procedure. Don't worry OP.

I had my appointment this morning, have to go back in 6 weeks it's a lot bigger than I thought , the doc actually saw the ring around it I thought I was imagining, it's 2cm round , I'm literally terrified. He wants to see if it grows in that time could be skin cancer could be some other sebaceous thing . I asked was it bad he said no . It'll be a horrible 6 weeks wait only told husband as my dad has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer I don't want to worry anyone else . Hopefully it's nothing serious. I'm kind of shook up about it .

I've calmed down a bit , I was shocked when he said he could see it too, I sincerely thought he'd tell me its nothing to worry about . Since then I've tried to not think about it too much but everytime I look in a mirror I can see it . It doesn't look like it's growing to me so hopefully he'll send me for biopsy after the 6 weeks . My dh thought he should have sent me straight away but I see the logic of waiting to see if rapid change is happening. I wish I went earlier now but I'm so diligent with sunscreen and I don't sit out regularly in the sun it didn't occur to me it could be anything serious.

I'm glad you're feeling a bit calmer. Maybe draw round it with a sharpie to check growth? I'm having a bit of a mole scare and just trying to gage whether I should panic or not. Will go to GP once they're back open x

Don't panic , but do get it checked . Hopefully it'll be nothing .

Well I had my follow up , the good news is the doc doesn't think its cancer or anything sinister. Such a relief, the bad news is its grown so he is getting a second opinion and will contact me in the week about it. He said probably will get a biopsy . Could be an autoimmune thing which tracks because I have other autoimmune things going on . It was more visible to him this time. I'm hoping not to be left waiting too long for an answer.
