Setting up a photo database?

I want to help my son catalogue his stuff, he has lots of comic books/comic toys etc.

Is there an easy (happy to pay for app) way to photograph and upload it to a database so he can identify what he has?

He isn't able to do this himself, and has lost the ability to remember what he owns and gets very upset when he realises he already had it.

We are talking 1000's items, 10,000 possibly often small but worth something to him.

I’d try Google Photos first, just put the comic title and number in the description or toy description. The search even using the ai image recognition is pretty good, so it’s worth a first try then easy to put the photos elsewhere if you find a better app

That would certainly be simple, I guess I could add them all to an album to manage them better

Ai recognition - how exactly would that work? Is that only for identifiable things (ie hulk, not just a show of hulks)

I haven't tried it on such a collection, but if I ask Google photos to look for 'passport' it finds both the photos of passport pages and of people holding closed passports so I'm pretty sure it would find both comics with Hulk on the cover and Hulk toys. Try taking s few photos of different things and give it a go.
I was thinking about you this morning and thinking that I'd split the problem into 2 parts - the comic books (where there is a unique number assigned) and toys. The comic books would be easiest to put in an Excel/ Google Sheet so you can put them in order for quicker searching unless pictures are better for your son to see that he has them
