Currently looking at the dualit 4 slice but some of the reviews arent great - any other recommendations? Budget about £250.
Don't want a plastic toaster. Looking for a classic chic look.

Just whatever you do - check it fits a normal sized slice of bread in it without leaving an infuriating non-toasted strip down one side.

I've gone into electrical stores with a little cardboard cut out slice of bread to test them before. I don't care if they think I'm mad!

Do they take thick slices of bread? Do they have a high lift function so you don’t need to fish the slices out. That’s what I am looking for.

They do take thick slices and you lift the slices up with a little lever. They're not great for really tall slices in my experience though.

I have never noticed any smears, so either I'm just slovenly, or other people are keeping their toaster too close to their hob?
