Feel so silly that I’m crying over this

I’m led in bed crying as my twins are sharing a bedroom for the last time tonight. From tomorrow they will each have their own bedrooms.
For the past 9 years they have been together at night times. I’ve always read them a story together and now that’s all going to end.

They are both very excited to be having their own rooms. They still like a story before bed so we decided that I will read to younger (by 2 minutes) twin first then older twin second.

I don’t know why I’m upset, it’s silly really. It’s probably the fact that they are growing up and showing signs of wanting to be more independent and not doing everything as twins anymore. Also, we haven’t finished the current book we’re reading so I will have to read each chapter twice for them each to hear.

Aww you're not being ridiculous! My kids moved into separate rooms a year ago and every weekend they have sleepovers in one room - we've had to put a folding futon in there to accommodate them comfortably. They thought they wanted their own rooms but they still miss each other. We also still do bedtime stories together sitting in the bigger bedroom before putting them to bed in separate rooms. Baby steps.

its ok to be both happy for them, but sad at the same time as big changes occur. 🤗

I wouldn't do what you're doing with the book though! I'd read to them both in one room, take turn about each night, or both in your room, until thus book is finished, then start a different book each, no way would I be reading the same thing twice in different rooms!

start a new tradition , story in your room and then a 5 minute chat and tuck in for each of them separately. Ease yourself into it
