family of two adults and 3 year old

£150 i reckon for that many people that's being sensible but not overly frugal

Norfolklass2428 · 06/08/2025 16:34

£150 - £160 depending on where you shop, what the food needs to cover e.g. packed lunches at school or home or not. Any dietary requirements or restrictions and does that amount include toiletries, nappies/ formula, cleaning and laundry products or pet food?

Coconutter24 · 06/08/2025 16:35

Surely it varies for everyone what is reasonable. We all have different incomes

CozyCoupe · 06/08/2025 16:38

We spend around 800-900 a month for a family of five. That's not particularly frugal, quite a bit of alcohol and includes all household stuff like laundry and toiletries etc. Mixture of Tesco/Home Bargains and Aldi.

Snorlaxo · 06/08/2025 16:38

How much do you drink and does anyone in the family have allergies ? Which supermarket do you use?

GameOfJones · 06/08/2025 16:39

We are a household of 4 (two adults, an 8 and a 6 year old) and budget £100 per week on the food shop. But we don't have pets, eat mostly vegetarian meals and are happy to have things like egg on toast or soup for dinner a few nights a week.

Arlanymor · 06/08/2025 16:39

For what? A month? A week?

DORATown · 06/08/2025 16:44

Sorry I should have said - asking per week. I shop at Tesco but could change this. We don’t drink alcohol but drink a lot of Diet Coke. Other than would need to include household toiletries, overnight nappies, wipes etc

Approx £100-£120 including a top up. Either Lidl/aldi or the own brand products in Tesco
