Wisdom tooth infection

Hi Everyone,

I have another wisdom tooth infection! The pain is so bad!! I have been put on metronidazole again and have been taking it now for around 36 hours but I’m not feeling any relief yet, I’m sure I was feeling some sort of relief by now with my previous infection.
how much longer should I give this before I go back to my dentist? I’m so fed up with this pain now it’s awful!!

Hi OP.
Acording to the NHS site, Metronidazole should start working within a few days, but with serious infections, including dental infections, it may take longer.
Keep taking it, it might be taking a little longer with this other infection, and of course you know not to stop taking it even if you start to feel better.
I'd probably be calling my dentist to let them know that I hadn't had any relief from pain yet; maybe they can recommend or at least reassure you.
