Long term antibiotics

Has anyone been prescribed long term, high dose antibiotics?

I’ve been prescribed this due to an embedded UTI. I have awful health anxiety so I’m worried about side effects. I’m currently on 100mg but need to go up to 200mg a day for 3 months before seeing the consultant again for review.

My dd was on continuous antibiotics from aged 2 to 8, they cycled through 3 different antibiotics (sometimes oral and sometimes intravenous) to try and prevent resistance and has had no ill effects. Honestly they don't do it if there's another option and as dds consultant used to say the long term ill health complications/or death from not taking them, were much more of a risk than her taking them.

I was on a strong antibiotic (1000mg four times a day) for over two months. It played hell with my digestive system but I dosed myself with live culture yoghurt and Kefir every day to ease the worst of it. Took a few weeks but everything settled down.

I've also been on a much lower dose for 12 weeks which had no side-effects at all.

Thank you! That is reassuring

If anyone has any recommendations for probiotics to take alongside the antibiotics they would be great too please!
