Metronidazole

I have just been prescribed metronidazole for the 2nd time for an infected wisdom tooth! I know you cannot drink alcohol on these. I had a small glass of wine last night and I’m wondering if it’s ok to start my antibiotics today? The pharmacist said it would be ok but I’m worried as I know these tablets can react badly to even a drop of alcohol!

If a pharmacist has told you it’s okay, I don’t think that non-qualified random people will give you any different advice. A small glass of wine will be out of your system in an hour or two.

I’d advise you to have something to eat. Metronidazole can be harsh on the stomach. Are you just on one antibiotic? Metronidazole is often prescribed along with another antibiotic.

Thank you, I have only been prescribed metronidazole and amoxicillin didn’t work for me last time.
