Is he being pushy?

Had a first date today went well, agreed to see him again, prior to this meet he had asked to chat on WhatsApp he gave me his number, I said I would rather wait until the first meet to exchange numbers, well this evening he has messaged me again asking to chat on WhatsApp am I right in thinking he should wait until I say I’m ready to exchange numbers? I know I said to exchange after the first date, but I just feel he’s been too pushy.

If you don't feel comfortable to swap numbers, then don't. There is no right or wrong answer. I probably would, as it's so easy to block and delete down the line if I wanted to. No biggie, but that's just MY view. Don't do anything that doesn't feel right for you.

Stop blowing hot and cold. You said after the first date and now you're saying not after the first date. Make your mind up. By the way, he just sounds keen.

I just thought he would wait for me to suggest exchanging numbers

Why does it matter so much? You can easily block a number if it doesn’t work out anyway.

pinenuts75 · 03/08/2025 20:38

I just wanted to know if he sounds pushy that’s all

He’s done exactly as you suggested, why would he be pushy?
No one waits until a formal announcement that you’re ready to exchange numbers, that’s weird. He’s asked you a reasonable question.

Mrsttcno1 · 03/08/2025 20:47

No he’s not pushy

phlossy · 03/08/2025 20:50

No he doesn’t sound pushy

fthisfthatfeverything · 03/08/2025 20:54

No he doesn’t
I’d rather chat by text/phone

SeanMean · 03/08/2025 20:59

He doesn’t seem pushy to me.

Does this feel pushy to you OP? Because that’s what matters.

If it makes you feel uncomfortable, listen to yourself. You don’t have to push your own comfort zone to accommodate anyone x

Well it did, but we’ve swapped numbers now so see what happens

I think it wouldn’t bother you if you liked him more.

I would personally find it odd if someone didn’t want to exchange numbers after a first date (if there was continued chat on another app, so it seems the date went well). That doesn’t mean you have to give it. But I don’t think he’s being weirdly pushy here.

I find it weird that you went on a date with him and hadn’t even swapped numbers
