Anyone else not like cheese?

I don't like cheese. I'll eat mozzarella on a pizza or cream cheese in a cheesecake but that's it. Anything stronger flavoured makes me feel sick. When I tell people, they look at me as if I'm weird and say things like 'how can you not like cheese?'. But I just don't like it. I don't know anyone else who doesn't like cheese so just wondering how many of us are out there?

You are an unnatural aberration!
Cheese, chocolate and chips. What would life be without them?!

gillybombilly · 03/08/2025 08:00

Same here!
I’ve always hated it - the smell and texture just make me heave.
Yet when I say that I don’t like it, I’m looked at as if I’ve grown another head 😁

I think I make up for the lack of cheesiness in my life by eating too much chocolate and chips!

My eldest doesn't like cheese.
He's clearly a weirdo

Thaawtsom · 03/08/2025 08:18

I have an adult family member who doesn't like cheese. He tries it on a regular basis cos he really feels like he's missing out. I know someone who doesn't like cooked cheese but is OK with cold mild cheese. I know someone else who is the exact opposite (doesn't like cold mild cheese but is ok with cooked cheese). All normal IMO.

I'm glad it's not just me! That is exactly how people react!

Having tried American cheese I’d have said most Americans don’t like cheese. My dh told me he wasn’t keen but now after 17 years with me he attacks a cheeseboard with gusto, the stronger the better.

skippy67 · 03/08/2025 08:23

Me! I think it's horrible! The smell of it, the texture, THE SMELL🤢🤢. My DH and one of my dc love it. You could not pay me enough to eat even a tiny piece. Just yuk.

Turophilic · 03/08/2025 08:23

There is something worrying wrong with people who don't like cheese. Cheese is the reason the good lord gave us taste buds.

BrickShark · 03/08/2025 08:24

YABVU

Thenightdrawsin · 03/08/2025 08:27

I don't eat cheese (not even melted) since I was one apparently.
I have 3 dc one is a cheese monster, one only eats melted cheese on pizza, ones like me and eats none.

Dolamroth · 03/08/2025 08:30

I didn't like it much then had second child and fancied trying some. Now I love it.

First pregnancy worked same for coffee.

Yes, the smell!! If my dh eats a particularly whiffy cheese, I have to leave the room.

My DS can’t stand it apart from on a pizza (and not too cheesy). Smell, taste and texture. Drives me nuts as I love a toasted cheese

Funnywonder · 03/08/2025 08:39

My mum didn’t like cheese. She said she hated the smell and never had it in the house when we were growing up. I only discovered I liked it when I was in my teens. She did buy Dairylea triangles for my sister’s lunch, but I thought they were disgusting. And anyway they’re not proper cheese😆 I still hate any sort of soft or spreadable cheese, but I love everything else. Weirdly, my dad loved cheese but only started ‘rebelling’ and buying it for himself after me and my siblings had left home!

FluffykinsTheFerociousFeralFelineFury · 03/08/2025 08:44

I'm so grateful to have cheese in my life.

troppibambini6 · 03/08/2025 08:52

Me. Can’t stand the stuff. Not even mozzarella. What makes it’s even worse I’m from an Italian family. When I’m Italy they literally look at me like I’ve got two heads. Then they usually serve me something with cheese in and say it’s fine there is only a little bit in it. 😂

TheCoralEagle · 03/08/2025 09:01

Some cheese has it's place. Cheesecake for instance. And the horrible, orange 'plastic' cheese squares for inside a burger at a BBQ...divine. Probably not that much actual cheese in those anyway 😂

Other than that, if cheese disappeared from the planet, I'd be OK with it.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/08/2025 09:34

I know several people who don't like cheese.

I love cheese, but only certain types of cheese. I can't stand goats cheese of any kind. I don't like soft cheese. I don't like runny cheese like brie or camembert, I don't like blue cheese of any kind, I don't like processed cheese slices (is it just me or does anyone else think they taste of coffee?) I don't like really mild cheeses and I don't like really very strong cheeses. I don't like parmesan.

I love a tasty cheddar type, I love gruyere and emmenthal, we have just tried all the cheeses that IKEA sell and I love them all. I don't mind Red Leicester, Double Gloucester, Cheshire, Lancashire or Caerphilly but I wouldn't ever choose them. Port Salut, Gouda and Edam leave me cold. I don't particularly like mozzarella and I don't like ricotta. There are lots I haven't tried, in most cases I'm willing to do so if they don't smell minging, but I'm very happy with the ones I do like.

LemonySippet · 03/08/2025 09:38

Same here, don't like cheese unless it's melted on beans or mozzarella on pizza, or in a cheesecake.

I'll raise you with i don't like wine either. Never have, and I'm teetotal now so never will.

sueelleker · 03/08/2025 09:46

My sister won't eat anything with cooked cheese in or on it.

DorsetVintage · 03/08/2025 09:48

I think people are surprised because there are so many varieties of cheese that they think there must be some out there that you'd like.

My friend won't eat cheese. She has pizza without cheese which to me is just veg on bread.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/08/2025 09:50

People often think I’m seriously weird for really not liking cream.

Except for stinky goats’ cheese, I do like cheese, though.

Seahorsesplendour · 03/08/2025 09:53

Me! Absolutely detest it!!!! The smell the texture the taste the look, including melted !! 😂

only discovered well into my 30’s that cheesecake was a totally different ball game!! 🤣

whiteroseredrose · 03/08/2025 09:53

Unfortunately I love cheese. I've been trying to be proper vegan but occasionally cheese is my nemesis. I loved all cheese - strong blue, runny brie, herby goat cheese. You can get some palatable vegan cheeses nowadays but they're not the same. Sigh.
