Perimenopause libido change?

I’m nearly 43 and had my DC late, only stopped nursing the last one 6 months ago. Libido was slow to return but the past few months I’m like a sex pest, especially mid-cycle and right before my period. I have a Mirena coil so don’t have much of a bleed but can tell by cramps and mood when my period would be.

I had no libido whilst I was BF DC but I’m insatiable these days! Anyone else experienced this? I’m wondering if I’m just making up for lost time or this might be perimenopausal? I’ve heard stories but this has quite taken me by surprise, I’ve never had so much libido.

I've got friends whose libido has dried up. Mine's gone through the roof! We're all 48-60yo, either going through peri or are out the other side.

I think it just depends on the person.

Thank you, my poor DH can barely keep up. I reckon he’s enjoying it after so many years of pregnancy and breastfeeding. But I can’t imagine being like this for another eight or ten years 🤪

My libido was highest before peri menopause. I’m pretty sure this is where women described as cougars came from. The final hurrah before the meno.

Yeah, it can be a thing in peri, my theory it's nature's way of telling us if we want a baby it's now or never. Last orders if you like.

My libido deserted me once my periods stopped but HRT has helped.

Thank you, yes I’ve been wondering if it’s som last hurrah before the periods go. Especially the premenstrual libido, i used to want to lie around and eat chocolate and now I’m like a sex pest, it’s almost unsettling really.

You aren't alone! There have been a couple of threads recently and it seems more common than many of us are led to believe. I guess its one of the nicer peri symptoms

Thank you. I suppose it’s nice but also it’s a bit overwhelming. I BF my last for 2 years and had NIL libido during that time, and very minimal during pregnancy. It’s like I’m making up for lost time or something. It’s be brilliant if I could find a balance, and I’m also worried this means that once I’m actually in the menopause my libido will die again. 🧐
