Giffgaff are quite expensive when holidaying in EU as you only get 5gb roaming data. Is there a better alternative?

Just that really.
Everyone seems to have used up the 5gb within the week and have had to start a new monthly package.
Is there a better option?

Smarty is cheap and you get 12 for free

I now get an option with giffgaff to add travel data. If you can’t see it on your app, sign out and in again to see if it appears.

For EU zone I have paid £12 for 10GB

Lebara. Go via money saving expert website and they do really cheap deals.

if you want to stay with GiffGaff then get a data only eSIM for when you’re abroad.

Can you explain how that works please?

My daughter (or rather, me) paid an absolute fortune topping up Giffgaff while in France recently- she used Goggle maps a lot while out and about and it ate through loads of data. After a week I asked her to download an eSim. I have no idea how it works but it did - we used https://yesim.app/.

Use a e-sim with Airalo, much cheaper

My UK mobile is on O2, and that has free roaming in the EU which includes 25GB of data. I think that can be increased with a simple bolt-on, but I also have a French eSIM so I haven’t ever needed to extend.
