Ultra soothing parking thread

Hi,

For anyone who is in need of a soothing parking thread, I wondered if you would like to share our Saturday afternoon joy?

Someone has blocked our drive with a very nice little red car and we can't get our car back in.

I have put a note under their windsceen wiper and started the clock to see how long it is before they come back.

There is literally nothing else to it. We have our feet up in the garden and are enjoying a lovely sunny day. It is sunny, but not too sunny. Pretty good really.

I have attached a digram.

Clock started at 3.30pm.

There is a prize for anyone who acheives total tranquility before the car goes.

Thank you for joining us.

Have a virtual prize from me for the diagram.

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 16:58

Thank you very much.

I like the aim of achieving total tranquility. I am in my garden listening to the birds and the world going by, so I shall join you in your journey to parking related zen.

Seawolves · 02/08/2025 17:00

I'd have spoken to my neighbour and blocked the bugger in then retired to the garden with a nice bottle of red.

afaloren · 02/08/2025 17:01

I won’t froth about how unbelievably inconsiderate some people are because that will spoil the vibe of the thread.

Excellent diagram, OP.

Luddite26 · 02/08/2025 17:02

Thanks for the invite and diagram. I'm afraid I cNt join you in too busy in the receipt thread but enjoy the afternoon. Bloody cheeky fuckery.

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 17:09

LOL.

Thank you for joining or not joining, as applicable.

DH and DS are being tranquil in the garden.

I just looked at the car again and I think I would quite like to drive it actually.

It's quite a nice little red Suzuki Swift, and I like it.

I have put the sausages on. Life continues to be deeply peaceful.

Zzzzzzzz

I'm going for 7-7.15pm.

The end of our driveway regularly gets blocked. We're in the corner bit of a top of a cul-de-sac. I try to remain zen about it as unless we need to go anywhere, then I figure there's no point in getting aggy about it. On the few occasions when I have needed to go out, it's been a visitor to one of our neighbours who has parked like shite, but they have appeared quick smart, apologised and moved.

I do fantasise about moving somewhere with zero neighbours at all!

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 17:18

It's a thought certainly.

I knew someone once who had no neighbours in the sense that we do. However, he had a lot of land and he said it was a right nuisance policing the boundaries of his land because they were a long way from the house. It was in India and apparently people would just arbitrarily fence of bits of his land to make it part of theirs, and hope he didn't notice.

I suppose everybody had a neighbour somewhere, even if they are very very far away.

The red car still looks nice. and is still there.

I think 7.15 is a good bet. Any other guesses?

Stylish Italian looking lady has got into car and is driving away. All continues to be tranquil...

ReignOfError · 02/08/2025 18:11

Did she read the note?

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 18:14

Yes she did, and then she tossed her hair like a show pony, looking up in the air at all times as though she was above this kind of nonsense. Then she sat in her car for ages drinking healthy water from an enormous plastic bottle that was mottled blue and purple. It was nearly 2L in size. I think tbh that she was a bit CF. Oh well. She is gone now.

Our car is back, which is presumably a weight off the mind of the person who wanted to park where our car was temporarily parked.

I suppose there is a small sliding block puzzle in our local roads that has to reassert itself into its normal state now.

I'm nearly comatose from lying on the grass in the nice not-too-hot sun.

MrsMoastyToasty · 02/08/2025 18:25

Karma.
SPCF (show pony cheeky fucker) will probably get caught in a traffic jam absolutely desperate for a pee after drinking her 2L of water with nowhere to turn aforementioned red car around.

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 18:27

That's excellent. SPCF is a keeper.

Yes I think you're right. Bladder weakness karma awaits.

@BoringParkingThread
I'm astounded that someone parked across your driveway for over an hour. I envy your ability to be so calm about it, too! The audacity is mind-blowing. 🤯
I'm in Canada. I have never heard of this here. I'm sure it happens, but I've never seen it. 🤷‍♀️
I'd love to know why people feel so entitled to do that over there. 🤔
I think that's car's tires would've met a steak knife had it been my driveway. 🔪
Now, I'm going back to watching Sesame Street with my dc and drinking iced tea with mint from my garden. 😎

myplace · 02/08/2025 18:50

This a prize winning short story of the parking genre.

CF parked in the wrong place.
Righteous owner waited.
SPCF arrived, drank water and left.
The end.

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 19:39

The truly excellent thing is that we had to park our car round the corner where my friend lives, who gets totally incensed by CFs parking anywhere at all in her stretch of road. So the knock-on effects would have been quite lively. It's strange how excitable life can be really.

In fairness, I'm still practally comatose. The weather is too nice to be remotely excited.

Zzzzz

Loving the idea that Canada is occupied only by lawful parkers. That is excellent. Canada must be a model of excellence.

Au contraire @BoringParkingThread
We are extremely aggressive on the road. Beware. Behind our excuse me's and I'm sorry's lie a passive aggressive and aggressive a-hole given the right situation. I am, however, only speaking for Vancouver/metro Vancouver and Toronto (the horn-honking capital, I think).

We're now onto Boss baby on Netflix.

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 21:46

@Mumtobabyhavoc That's hilarious. I had no idea. I will listen much more carefully when Canadians speak in future. :-)

I’m not surprised you are busy on the receipt thread. It keeps on going.

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 21:57

@ChompandaGrazia and @Luddite26 where is the receipt thread? DS and I looked for it but couldn't find it.

OP posts:
ChompandaGrazia · 02/08/2025 21:58

Hang on, I’ll find it. It’s quite the opposite vibe to this one.

BoringParkingThread · 02/08/2025 22:02

Oh wow. I read the OP and I see that it runs for 21 pages. I'll need a Brew to read that one.
