Good pubs in Carlisle

we will have a couple of nights in Carlisle in a few weeks time and wondered if anyone knows of a decent place to eat -think good pub grub and real ale -in Carlisle centre? No car so don’t want to travel far

I second the Thin White Duke and the pubs on that street.

Botchergate is very rough and ready - perhaps avoid.

David’s is also very nice for food

Penny's Blue was nice when we went there a few years ago and The Thin White Duke.as others have said.
