Dartmouth no accommodation left, where's nearby that we can walk into Dartmouth?

Left it too late to book for regatta week. No way you can drive and try and park up so is there anyway just outside where we could stay and walk in?

It'll be a nightmare for parking so the park and ride is best bet.
Then you can drive from any accommodation to the park and ride. Hop the bus down into town from there.

Not sure where you're travelling from? How long you wanted to stay in the area.

Walking in wise, I can't think of anywhere as Dartmouth is miles from anywhere.
Have you looked for anything in Kingswear?

Want to stay Wedn to Sun in Dartmouth and for the final Regatta Day on the Saturday. Found somewhere for £600 abiur to book and it went. Nothing left at all. We need to chill after a few very stressful weeks. There is one accommodation left thiught BUT 4 nights at £800 - central to Dartmouth and a parking permit so we can just chill. But there's only 2 of us and £800 yikes!!!!

I would stay in Totnes or Dittisham and get the boat down. Dartmouth isn't walking distance from anywhere excep Stoke Fleming, which I presume is fully booked at the pub.

Bjorkdidit · 02/08/2025 04:42

Is Brixham an option? I know someone who lives there and their DC go to school in Dartmouth because the local schools were full or unsuitable so it must be reasonably close. They had to get a boat, which could be the one @RosaMundi27 is referring to.

Laska2Meryls · 02/08/2025 06:22

Do you have a tent? Dartmouth camping club site near Stoke Fleming is in (about a mile downhill towards castle) walking distance if you can do hills or there's a bus stop right outside the site to get back if you don't want to walk back up
We were there a few weeks ago and went into Dartmouth most days .

From Brixham you can also get the bus to Kingswear and go over foot passenger on the lower lower ferry.

I’d try to find somewhere in Kingswear, Brixham, or Totnes.
Number 18 (? could be wrong, haven’t lived down there for while) bus from Brixham to Kingswear then ferry across to Dartmouth.

I’d lean more towards Totnes (perhaps biased as I grew up there!) and getting the boat to Dartmouth because 1) it’s fun and 2) Totnes is a gorgeously weird and wonderful little town.

Laska2Meryls · 02/08/2025 06:48

The boat from Totnes is really expensive though..

Yup, glorious walk in, from this site, ( about 30-40 mins) and bus back to right outside campsite. I second this but don't know if they've got static homes to rent, or you have a tent; ( we always go in our campervan.)
Good luck.

Tcateh · 02/08/2025 07:57

Yes the bus gets thru it's a dedicated service on the main road of Dartmouth.

Wimbledonmum1985 · 02/08/2025 07:59

Where is the £800 offer? That is probably standard and to be honest I’d pay it to be close to the action. Such a beautiful place.

Tcateh · 02/08/2025 08:01

Bus back from Dartmouth to Stoke Fleming (the Kingsbridge bus) won't run very late in evening unless they do a longer service during regatta.

We have a stupidly early last bus arrangement here.
