Not my cup of tea, not v relaxing or calming

DancingLions · 01/08/2025 13:35

If you like it then why not. I've done something highly unusual with my kitchen that probably 100% of people would not like 😂but I love it and that's all that matters.

Having seen how quickly it looks shabby on cars I can't imagine it will last long in a kitchen with steam, constant knocks, food spills and cleaning products.

piscofrisco · 01/08/2025 13:43

It’s kitchen wrap. But you could probably achieve similar with some primer, then paint (tester pots make it cheaper if you find enough in the colours you want or from one of those shops that are all over the place now that recycle paint), then yacht varnish. And masking tape for the lines.

it wouldn’t be for me but if you like it, go for it!

It wont be on the work tops. Just the cupboards doors. But I get what your saying though. I wouldn't want it to start peeling . Bubbling or something. I have heard of people doing it the out cone looks nice and neat but never hear if it actually lasts and still looks good.

My cupboards have a gloss finish.so im not sure how easy that would be. Also im not sure if it would chip more easily. Also with wrap it would probably be easier to put back to white.

if you get the correct primer it will go on fine over gloss-but it’s tricky to get the finish totally smooth.

Viviennemary · 01/08/2025 13:56

It's dire.

Haha wow! I sort of like it because it's stimulating and refreshing, but I think over time I'd get a bit tired of it.

neilyoungismyhero · 01/08/2025 14:00

I had mine wrapped about 10 years ago and it's still looking good. I had a lot done and added for what seems like little money now although I expect it's gone up a lot.

ShallIstart · 01/08/2025 14:01

If it doesnt go on perfectly it will look terrible. But if you can get it on, then I thinkit looks fab.

I agree, I like my living room and bedroom, places where I relax, to have a calm environment, but I don’t feel a need for this in my kitchen where there’s lots of hustle and bustle!

I bloody love it! Photos and links to products please when you do it! Cheers! 🙂

I've done this in our box-room/office using a run of Billy bookcases along the whole wall.
I got the glass doors that come with a reversible black/white panel that clips inside them, then painted all the white sides with different bright tester paints - instant glossy, bright rainbow doors but no concerns about steam, cleaning products etc (as the panels are inside the glass you can just wipe fingerprints etc off the outside in the usual way).

I would do mine my self. Not professionally. It would be on a budget. I dont even know the cosvt haven't even looked yet.

You could just buy odd different coloured doors. They make cupboard doors in all colours.

Easy surface primer is your friend. Just wipe it onto a clean surface and paint will stick like glue.

GrumpyExpat · 01/08/2025 14:16

I like it! I love houses with personality, sensible beige/cream/white does my head in.

rainbowstardrops · 01/08/2025 14:25

I really like it!!! I’d probably have to look into getting a professional in but if you think you could do it then go for it!

Would probably be expensive. I would have thought.
