Easy surface primer is your friend. Just wipe it onto a clean surface and paint will stick like glue.

Sorry im not sure what you mean. ?

I love it. Dh on the other hand would have a heart attack. He doesn't do "bright".

I like it! I love houses with personality, sensible beige/cream/white does my head in.

I 100% agee. I like things different a bit loud. Bright and bold =happy for me. Not that im always happy 🧐. But beige definitely wont help 😅

Personally it's too risky if you're doing it yourself, and very Marmite. I'd go for colourful splashback, artwork and blinds.

PInkyStarfish · 01/08/2025 14:41

That’s horrific.

My cupboards have a gloss finish.so im not sure how easy that would be. Also im not sure if it would chip more easily. Also with wrap it would probably be easier to put back to white.

You can't put the cupboards back to white gloss if you paint them and wrap doesn't come off as easily as you would think. The longer it's on the stickier the glue gets and will remain on the cupboards and is hard to remove. I've done a few kitchens. Unless you want to pay for a new kitchen for your landlord I really wouldn't bother.

I see so much interior design inspo on Instagram Reels and Facebook that makes me so envious and think I'd love to do it, but.......

...have you ever paused on one of those inspo reels? Or zoomed in on a pic. So many times, if it doesn't become apparent they are AI, you realise the quality up close is absolutely shit and it might look good in a photo but in real life you're going to be disappointed.

I don't think there's any way to get a good result from this without buying doors/units made to the colours. Not long term anyway.

I have linked to the product. It is brilliant for creating a bond on glossy, non-porous surfaces. I used to to prepare my bannisters for painting, rather than spending hours sanding off a glass varnish.

Owatrol ESP- Easy Surface Prep WB

Ah thank you . I will look .

May well be true. I will definitely have think and look into it more. I am worried about how it will truly look if I was to wrap. So will definitely take my time looking. I will look at doors as well incase

Same. Bold colours are relaxing and calming to me. White/beige/neutral makes me tense. It's vaguely threatening in its nondescriptness.

MagnificentBastard · 01/08/2025 15:28

Stuff of nightmares 😱

MagnificentBastard · 01/08/2025 15:42

OP, are you the poster that painted her living room (badly) in loads of clashing triangles? If so, I can understand this.

*apologies if that’s not you

Yes, it’s like when they do those tile stickers etc on design shows - design masters etc. it’s never going to last, is it?

Diy quick fixes can be great - painting furniture etc. But you have to be realistic about what will last and be practical.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 01/08/2025 16:00

My just doing it for Pride Month...

80smonster · 01/08/2025 16:01

Urgh, I find kitchen wrap so tacky. Also think it will get damaged and look horrendous. Another poster (who was a renter) said they had a quote for £1,500 for wrapping a kitchen and the tops.

Lavender14 · 01/08/2025 16:04

I covered my kitchen counters with wrap. It was a PITA to fit but once it was done it held up really well and our kitchen would have been used a lot. It's been 5 years and only just starting to need replacing around the sink where the silicone has come away. But it's more the sealing than the wrap that's been the issue.

This is a joke right?

XXLfiles · 01/08/2025 16:09

Kitchen should be energetic space. Go bold! But yes, it can look shabby if not done right.
Have you looked at swapping the door for colourful one? Might workout cheaper than 3 re-dones (bitter personal experience with some dyi projects). Door can be very cheap nowadays. Proper film and wrapping can cost quite some money too. If you buy cheap one... It won't last at all.

Housechallenge · 01/08/2025 16:11

I don't think im going to do it. The kitchen is only just over 3 years. Old. So it would be silly really. It wouldn't matter so much if it was older and starting to look worn. But there's nothing wrong with it so its a bit silly.

I will probably do something with walls instead. Or do nothing 😅

LadyCankleOfGrantham · 01/08/2025 16:13

I reckon this design is one of those things that look fantastic in professional pictures but IRL would look cheap and would date very quickly

Im not going to do it now . O just saw the picture and got excited about doing it. Decided its not such a good idea now . Kitchen is only 3 years old would be silly

I like the picture. However, I think that it is taken in very bright light. I’m not sure it would be so nice in lower light.

PInkyStarfish · 01/08/2025 16:18

You could just wear these instead
