I don't think im going to do it. The kitchen is only just over 3 years. Old. So it would be silly really. It wouldn't matter so much if it was older and starting to look worn. But there's nothing wrong with it so its a bit silly.

I will probably do something with walls instead. Or do nothing 😅

I think that's a very sensible decision.

its a very difficult thing to do well & I think doing it yourself would result in a really terrible finish, looking nothing like the photo. And ruining the surface of your existing (pretty new) kitchen.

my mum's friend (in her 80's) still has her egg yolk kitchen from the 60's! It looks amazing (one careful lady owner!!) but I couldn't live with it! I expect you'd love it.

maybe you need to move, buy an old place in need of renovation & just enjoy doing your own thing with it!

Im his wife does that still count. To be fair he doesn't spend much tome in the kitchen. But I think mr T would like it.

If it was old I would have given it a go. But its silly when its kind of new. I will definitely step away from this idea.

I think things were made better back then. I do t think things are made so well now

You don't own it though so you wouldn't have been able to do this anyway? You can't do that to a council owned kitchen?

I can as long as I put it back how it was / replace doors if i had to. I can do what I like as long as I don't knock down walls.

But im not doing it anyway.

You’d never sell the house!

I think it's great. I wouldn't choose it personally but I'd admire it in someone else's home.

WonderingWanda · 01/08/2025 18:14

It reminds me of one of those rainbow sticks of rock.

menopausalfart · 01/08/2025 18:19

It's really difficult to do perfectly and if it's not perfect, it looks terrible. Maybe get some cheap wrap and practice lots.

Devonshiregal · 01/08/2025 18:34

100% pop on Amazon and get some wrap. You can use a hairdryer to help bond it and smooth out air bubbles. Get a good pair of scissors, a Stanley knife and something to smooth it down with (But literally your hand/arm will do especially if you use a hairdryer. If you take the doors off their hinges and handles off it will be a piece of cake - like wrapping a present. Of course the inside will have a line or two but no one cares because it’s not their kitchen.

If you like it go for it
