Hi, I’ve got a bruise on my lip that’s I’ve had years and years, I am a notorious lip picker/biter due to anxiety and I’m trying to manage that but usually my lips are chapped and bleeding. A few years ago I ripped some skin off my lip so hard on one side it bruised it and never healed and for some reason only recently I’ve really noticed it in pictures even though it’s been there years?! Does anyone know any ways to help heal this or am I stuck with it? Please don’t be mean about my lips I know they’re absolutely awful, I wear lipstick most days and I loved it when I could wear a mask during Covid lol! I am working on not being a lip picker !! 👄 (bruise on the right)

Unfortunately it's probably scar tissue and will just take it's sweet time to fade. You could try using Bio Oil or similar on the area?

Sympathy because I'm also a composite lip picker. The only thing I've found that's helped is a really thick beeswax lip balm that seems to coat them really well and stay put for hours.

It sounds similar to a mark I have, but I cannot see your pic.

I’d see a dermatologist as that might not be a bruise but a bit of early skin cancer. Anything that won’t heal should be checked out.

I can see the photo now. Yes I have similar and asked my dentist about it, they weren't worried.
I disguise it by using darkish lipstain.

From the picture it looks like it might be a melanotic macule, which is a benign lesion that can appear on the lower lip, but always a good idea to check with GP.

PS - If it is a melanotic macule, there seem to be ways to fade or remove it, but I think it's best to find out what it is.

@LoremIpsumCici@ShrubRose it only appeared after biting my lip skin off so hard it bled for days then this healed over it so I’m just assuming it’s a bruise / mark because of that?

If it is a melanotic macule, a doctor can refer you for laser removal of it.

I think a bruise would certainly have healed by now.

I just would not assume, it looks different in your photos, in one photo, it has what looks like a sore spot on its right edge? So it doesn’t seem to have healed and been consistently the same. Only a professional can tell you what it is, and that will then lead to the solution to heal or remove it.

The sore spot would be where I’ve picked around it and made it bled, but I’ll get a gp appointment! Thank you
