Anyone else on a UK holiday with suboptimal weather? What are you doing?

Thank feck we're abroad next year is all I can say.

8 days on the coast and weather has been a bit crap. We still have 4 days to go and 3 of them look wet (granted showers and not torrential rain like the day we arrived)

There isn't much locally other than the beach and coastal walks and we didn't come by car so driving to XYZ isn't an option.

Misery loves company and all that, anyone else is the same sort of position?

This happens every school summer holidays, now. Great weather in May/June, then this the day they break up. We stopped going camping in August years ago, but, I can tell you what we did one August 14 years ago, on Dartmoor, camping alongside friends for a week when it rained. Every. Single. Day. We planned the following summer’s holiday. A villa in Spain with a private pool. And did that every summer from then on.

Our time is too precious to take risks with English weather in school holidays.

Yikes. I've never been brave enough for camping (barring festivals when I was younger, and yes it always rained!)

Frustratingly if we were here next week it would be 22/23c and sunny every-bloody-day. Typical.

So far today we've all had a lay-in, which isn't to be sniffed at and we're going to find somewhere to have brunch before we attempt a soggy coastal walk. We'll do one of the shorter ones today.
