iPhone help please!

This problem might be because I have an old phone - it’s an iphone8.
my default browser has swapped from Safari to Google and I would like to switch it back. I’m not sure why it suddenly decided to be Google. The safari app is showing on my phone, I can open it but it defaults to Google.
If I go into Settings-Safari-Search Engine
it gives me some options - Google, Yahoo etc but not Safari.
if I go to the App Store-Safari I can open it from there, but it defaults to Google.
Please help! 🙏🏻

1. Go to Settings > Apps.
2. Tap Default Apps at the top of the list of your apps.
3. Tap a feature to change your default setting to a different app.
4. After choosing a new default app, you may have to follow additional onscreen steps.

Thank you - I don’t have Default apps as an option. I think because my phone is old!

Looks like it needs to be running on iOS 14 or later to have that option. Go to Settings - General - About to check your current iOS version, then Settings - General - Software Update to see whether you can update to a newer version.
