Does this cut look bad? (Picture attached)

I sliced my thumb open on a bread knife yesterday night. Stupidly didn't take a picture at the time but it was very deep and flappy, with lots of blood.

I was home alone with the 7 year old so I patched it up with steristrips and a dressing. I changed it a few hours later cause it was still bloody, this is what it looked like.

Very blue around one side, still bleeding.

This morning it is still oozing and sore, but I haven't taken the dressing off.

Is it likely to need looking at? 🤔😬

It sounds like it might be infected, so I think you should get it looked at. You could try asking a pharmacist in the first instance if it's difficult to get a GP appointment in your area, they should know if an anti-septic will be sufficient or if you need antibiotics.

Sounds like the cut I had last summer. Go and get it looked at. 111 at least.

I nearly sliced the tip of my index finger off; I had a similar flap. I didn’t think much of it but my DH took one look and took me straight to A&E!
They glued the flap back in place. The nurse was lovely and told me my DH had done the best thing.
Apart from the tiny ridge, where the cut was, you wouldn’t know I’d cut myself!
