What a shame ... Sad They seemed like such a nice and compatible couple. Never know what's going on behind closed doors eh?

Or is he

Oh that's a shame.
I remember them presenting Fame Academy together back in the day and they clearly had excellent chemistry and both really liked one another.

Oh 😔

My Dd asked if she was now with Ben 😮

I think Ben is too much in love with himself for anyone else to get much of a look in (and yes, I do.know he's married).

He seems nice though, but he’d be punching with Cat, she’s lovely

SaintGermain · 29/07/2025 22:58

Louise Redknapp did the same. Thought the grass would be greener on the other side and expected to have a whole bunch of new admirers waiting to sweep her off her feet! Problem is the men they are attracted to are attracted to younger women!

I don’t know if she expected that? Seemed like she was unhappy and hadn’t been seen in her marriage

Always said there's a minor 7 year itch and a major 12 year itch.

I see them around locally from time to time, but never together come to think of it. Both very unassuming and friendly.

The funniest thing ever was one morning I overheard him chatting to a lady an older lady who had gone over to say hello and that she was a fan. He was being super friendly and nice, asking her name and about herself and then I heard him say “oh, no, no Theresa, you’re getting me mixed up with Vernon Kay there, it’s the other one I’m married to- Cat Deeley not Tess Daly!”

'Tess Daly, NO! Cat Deeley!' LOL, easy mistake to make. 😆

Unsurprised - I thought her not attending his mothers funeral was unforgivable. If Paddy was working in Ireland she should have brought over and supported their sons at their grandmother's funeral

I think poor Louise really regretted leaving Jamie afterwards. It seems like she had some sort of mid life crisis she didn’t like the way her career had stagnated whereas he was doing great career wise. There seems to be a sadness or a desperation about her or something since the split.

SparkyBlue · 30/07/2025 10:47

And yes I thought it was odd when neither Cat nor the children went to the funeral especially as he is Irish and taking the DC out of school for a grandparents funeral is what everyone here does no one would think twice about it

I’m Irish and everyone in Ireland thought it was dreadful that Cat didn’t turn up for the funeral, whatever about their children.

You’ve clearly not seen Ben on the front of Men’s Health magazine. Just sayin’

People do commute weekly from London to Dublin and vice versa!

Yes, I know, but it can cause relationship issues if one person is in a different city all week, hence why I asked. I work in an industry that used to be full of male contractors in London working Monday- Thursday, so they came down Sunday evening, went back Thursday or Friday. I worked with many of these v closely and let me tell you, the vast majority were cheating on their wives in the week, often with prostitutes.

Anyway, sound like he was mostly in London so prob not an issue for them.

The Late, Late Show is only on for a couple of hours on a Saturday night and is not broadcast over the summer.

Lottapianos · 30/07/2025 10:57

That's sad news. They seem like really nice people

Shitstix · 30/07/2025 10:59

I'm not surprised. She just never seemed that into him.

I think if people have just drifted apart, there is an argument for staying together if they have kids.

@soupyspoon

why?? Parents deserve to be happy as well as kids!

@SparkyBlue

@SaintGermain

Or…it could have been his well known infidelity that made her want to separate from him, rather than her being desperate for attention from younger men. Not all women care a lot about what men think of them you know.
check your internalised misogyny- it’s popping up here

ImTheLittleRedHen · 30/07/2025 12:08

Well, I’m sad for them. I watch him on the late late on Friday nights and he’s been a really good fit for the show. He’s much more emotional than I expected and is really open with his feelings. He brings a personal touch to the show and is very funny.

SweetFancyMoses · 30/07/2025 12:12

I felt sad when I read that and I don’t really know much about either of them. It’s always really sad to hear of a broken marriage when there are kids involved.

I didn’t realise this was her 2nd marriage.

To be fair I think she’s said as much , wished she had spoken up about how she had felt instead of just running away. I think him moving on with a much younger and beautiful clone of her must have been v painful. I think at the time too she was overly encouraged by her younger cast mates she had grown close to to take the plunge influenced her too and she subsequently distanced herself from them. She’s made the best of it though

He hosted a private charity event I attended. He was absolutely fantastic. A very skilled host, really got people in the mood to donate.
