What a shame ... Sad They seemed like such a nice and compatible couple. Never know what's going on behind closed doors eh?

Really like them although they're not on telly much as far as I can see

Nothing necessarily needs to be 'going on behind closed doors' either, sometimes people just want to move on. According to most posters on here, everyone has the right to do that.

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/07/2025 20:57

For some reason I find this quite sad - no idea why, lol. I think their relationship sounded quite romantic, and you always hope they last. Hope they and their kids are all ok.

I dont watch day time telly, wasnt aware

She is wasted on day time telly though.

PullTheBricksDown · 29/07/2025 21:02

Ah what a shame. They seemed well suited and in it for the long haul. And I like them both.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 29/07/2025 21:03

I don’t watch it either but remember her getting the gig last year.

Patrick is on Irish Tv - he presents the Late Late show which is a flagship show on RTE. but I hadn’t seen much of them before that you’re right.

teksquad · 29/07/2025 21:05

Interesting. I had no odea they wer married, and always assumed he was gay.

If shes on Uk breakfast TV and he's on Irish evening TV, where do they live? Maybe commuting/long distance was an issue?

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 29/07/2025 21:07

Late Late is only on once a week so I think they live in London?

Hollyhobbi · 29/07/2025 21:08

People do commute weekly from London to Dublin and vice versa!

soupyspoon · 29/07/2025 21:10

I thought they lived in america which I always thought was a shame

HaileyBailey · 29/07/2025 21:12

Yes, I think it’s sad and was surprised to read it. Thinking about it, though, Ben Shepherd mentions his wife, Annie, a lot but Cat never talks about Patrick on This Morning. They must have been drifting apart for a while.

tennissquare · 29/07/2025 21:26

Cat lives in London with their 2 ds and
she has a tv job that fits in with being a mum etc. Patrick commuted to Ireland for his job but she was absent from his mother's funeral in March citing being with her sons so it seems the separation had been going on a while.

lostinchaos · 29/07/2025 21:28

I always thought the way he flew to LA for her birthday lunch after a late night drunken call, was actually a very romantic story after years of being just friends. whilst I don't have any interest in them generally, I feel sorry to hear that they are breaking up so many years later and with a young family.

Yeah, me too. I think it's a bit sad too. As I said, they seemed like such a compatible couple. According to what has been said so far, they just drifted apart I think. Sleeping in separate rooms for a couple of years, no-one else involved apparently. I guess all good things come to an end, and it's better to leave than stay in a marriage that is no longer working. (If it's possible to do that of course.)

Many people who are not quite rich (normal folk!) stay together because they have no choice/can't afford to leave and be alone. So if a marriage is not abusive or very toxic, and just stale/boring/no love left, some people tend to stay. Celebrities don't have that problem, and can split up and move on easier.

I hope they and their children are OK too. ❤

I think if people have just drifted apart, there is an argument for staying together if they have kids.

FishPie2 · 29/07/2025 21:38

This is not a surprise. She didn't go to his mothers funeral a few weeks ago, she has ditched her wedding ring, never mentions him on social media or This Morning. She does Celebrity Goggle Box with Ben Shepherd and was a Wimbledon with him etc.

I catch Paddy's Saturday morning radio programme most weeks and he never talks about Cat that I've heard although he often mentions his FIL

Peridot1 · 29/07/2025 22:03

I was sad to read this too. Watched them years ago on Fame Academy where they met and loved the story of him ‘popping’ to,LA to be there for her birthday lunch.

It was odd that she and their boys didn’t go to his mother’s funeral. Or at least her.

I watched the documentary he did about Northern Ireland and his Dad’s murder and some other stuff he did on that subject and thought he was pretty good.

This, it just seemed like they were meant to be after being friends for so long. Sad, I always thought they were together for the long haul and loved their getting together story

That is a bit odd that she never went to his mother's funeral. And I never knew his father was murdered. How sad. Sad

That’s a shame. They both seem like nice people and normal , down to earth.

Wasneverintomickeyandminnie · 29/07/2025 22:31

Oh 😔

My Dd asked if she was now with Ben 😮
