Gmail storage

I was getting notifications for a long time about storage filling. I paid for the subscription for a while but I cancelled it recently.

Is there any way of continuing on with Gmail without the paid subscription?

Within my Gmail account I do have some large emails. They are in s epartae folder that I can't delete because they were sent to me in a harassment campaign and I need to keep them for legal reasons.

I suppose there is Google photos and videos. Is there anyway of cleaning that stuff up without deleting much.

Does Google drive even work any more? Where you can store pdfs?

You could open a new Gmail account to forward the large files to and store them there as a sort of archive.

Or buy an external hard drive to store important docs or photos on.

My Google drive works fine. What annoys me is that I spent hours deleting a load of photos and videos to get my storage comfortably below the free amount and they all came back Confused.

I also have tens of thousands of advertising emails that I never signed up for and no matter how much unsubscribing I do, won't stop coming. When GDPR came out they promised they wouldn't send anything we didn't actively opt into but that was a load of crap as it seems that you don't need to buy anything, just look at a website without carefully tailoring the cookies and that is somehow agreement for them to email you every week.

So Google is pestering me to pay to store digital crap that I never asked for and can't stop from coming. And no, I don't want to spend any more of my time deleting it. I just want them to stop sending it.

Check that any notifications are legit and actually from Google, there are a lot of Gmail scams out there.

Also are you backing up your photos to Google? That is fine if you are not backing up elsewhere, but, due to system defaults, it is easy to inadvertently back up to Google when you do not intend to.

I recently canceled the monthly subscription so it's probably genuine.
