Bbq adults

Hi,

I'm hosting a bbq for friends next weekend. All adults. About 12 people. I'm OK with the food and drink but want to do something entertainment wise. It can take this group a while to loosen up so was thinking some games might help.

Do you have any ideas for games to get people interacting and having fun?

Previously I've gone all out with sports day style games and then beer pong . But I don't have the energy to organise a relay of 10 games this year. It went down really well mind. But looking for something simpler.

Not keen on Cornhole or jenga as they can be boring.

Thanks so much

Do these people know each other/ like playing games etc?

FanofLeaves · 28/07/2025 13:47

I usually hate this sort of thing and would rather warm up socially with a wine or two, but recently we played Molkky at a BBQ which is a Finnish gale involving numbered skittles. You can get a set on Amazon. I have to admit it was quite fun.

Taskmaster? Loads of good ideas on line.

I would just put a pack of playing cards/ Uno on the table. Maybe a swingball or small badminton bet set up, people might just start playing organically then.

I hate forced fun!

Rizzz · 28/07/2025 14:50

As long as everyone likes games, I'd get them all to organise one each.

CallMeFlo · 28/07/2025 14:51

Make sure yiu know your audience. Will they enjoy that. I can think of nothing worse than going to a friend's house & being told were playing games. No thanks

BadActingParsley · 28/07/2025 15:08

Croquet or Boules if you have a lawn. We did that at a friend's and, despite my misgivings, I enjoyed it. Also did rounders as well - that got quite out of hand.

Bob the weasel

I confess that I am another that would hate this. Maybe leave some around and people can play if they want?

Even though I hate party games, do leave Twister out for when everyone has had a few.

telestrations after dark for the more 'adult' version

Cards against humanity.

I love this game with adults after a few drinks, but if your friends are of an even slightly delicate disposition, don’t like swearing or crudeness, then opt for the family version instead!

The standard version is hilarious for the right audience but it is very near the knuckle. I have family
members who would be very offended by it!

PersephonePomegranate · 28/07/2025 19:29

I'd advise against serving adult, children are much juicier.

Sorry 😅

A card game -
the mind
cards against humanity
moral conflict
or a quiz?

dh280125 · 30/07/2025 12:07

The answer is pétanque.
