Emirates Seats

We are flying with Emirates this October and just looking to book our seats.

We fancied the upper deck on the airbus, however, there are no extra leg room seats available. Does anyone know if you automatically get more legroom upstairs or if we should just book downstairs extra leg room?

Or any other seats we are overlooking? Family of 4, two over 6ft and one under 18 if that helps at all.

thank you

I think the upstairs is all business class.

Upstairs is first, business and premium economy. Downstairs is everybody else.

I have paid an extra £100 per economy flight,4 altogether so £400 for return to Australia in November for extra legroom.
All seats are downstairs but I was able to choose seats when I booked. I actually went to TA ,so much easier and saved me money because paying extra for premium economy would have been £1000 more.
Edited to make clear that return flight inc extra legroom approx £1400 altogether.

Not true. Watch the video, he explains the various configs just after he boards and that some A380s have no premium economy.

On the seat plan going out I’m able to choose the front part of upstairs as economy and then business class is behind that.

On the return journey only downstairs is available so maybe upstairs is all business and pe on that one.

thanks for the video, I’ll have a look at that now.

Ah. Maybe it differs between airlines. I was just googling seating on A380 yesterday as DS was looking for flights. Emirates seems to be a little more expensive than other airlines but also more comfortable. (The cheapest longhaul we did recently was on Gulf Air, but it was a bit rough and ready. Was also a dry flight so maybe we noticed more.)

Every airline configures its aircraft individually, the airframe manufacturers offer a lot of flexibility. Price optimisation is very complicated for fleet managers.

I was upstairs last week in economy. I think it is quieter as it is smaller, useful if you have a night flight.

Emirates on the phone are incredibly helpful.
I always book one extra leg room seat and two regular seats, but still want to sit all together. It’s not possible to do myself as DC is too young to sit in an extra leg room seat.
So depending on the seat configuration. We either get an extra legroom, and two regular seats across the aisle. Or an extra legroom with no chair in front that is directly next to seats that do have seats in front.

Thank you everyone. I think I’m going to try and convince my dh to get seats on the upper deck on the way out (the 2 configurations) because that video has made me really fancy it.

We can then get extra leg room on the way home.
