Is it just me? Slowly but surely... Warwickshire here.

I love Autumn 🍂

I hate it. Not long till it’s dark when we all leave for work and when we get home! But people will romanticise it because it’s the “spooky” months - not appealing if you’re above the age of about 13.

PrincessOfPreschool · 25/07/2025 22:23

I was thinking that yesterday and getting depressed. I love the long days. Not so bothered about hot/ cold/ rain/ sun but the long days get me through (just about) all that darkness.

Om83 · 25/07/2025 22:27

I said it a week ago- would love to have the fire on!! Looking forward to getting the duvet back on and snuggling in. Always look forward to the change of seasons way before I should!!

mondaytosunday · 25/07/2025 22:28

Yes I was actually up at 5am the other day thinking it was earlier as it was still gloomy out! As it’s almost six weeks since the longest day not surprising.

justasking111 · 25/07/2025 22:42

I was looking at the cutest Halloween stuff online last night

I actually thought there was a bit of an autumnal nip in the air yesterday and today, early in the morning 😱

I'm in North Hampshire and it ws a real wintry day here yesterday!

yes I was trying to blame it on rain clouds & thunderstorms... but it was a beautiful evening here & still getting dark early, not happy, I LIVE. Long light evenings!!

I LOVE cosy evenings & Suyumn, but not in sodding July!! October is plenty early enough! Get it told please!

twilightcafe · 25/07/2025 22:49

Blackberries ripened already.
Some leaves on the maple trees in my local supermarket car park are turning red.
No longer broad daylight at 9pm - the sun dips noticeablybelow the horizon earlier and earlier.

HowLongWillTheDogBe · 25/07/2025 22:49

Yes! Glad it’s not just me!😁
We’re in the very North of Wales, and I’ve been thinking it’s been noticeably darker in the last couple of weeks I moved all the living room furniture round so the sofa I’d facing the main window, and in the blink of an eye, the daylight had just gone tonight!
i love autumn too🍁🍂 Such a glorious month for nature.

Octavia64 · 25/07/2025 22:51

Yep - dark after band rehearsals now.

got blackberries in fruit (seems pretty early for that)

MsSmartShoes · 25/07/2025 22:51

As a woman the light nights feel safer.
I don’t worry as much when I walk home alone because it’s light.

Weirdly, I wondered why it was still light so late. I’m in the North West and it’s still light ish.

Hmmm… I noticed that The Range and B&M were clearing their summer stuff out, and there were more autumnal things were appearing. It’s only around 9 or 10 weeks til October so the Halloween crap fest will soon be on the shelves.

5 months today,or 22 Fridays.

Oh God!! You’re right!!! 🌲

braaaiiins · 25/07/2025 23:03

The farms near me have their hay and straw baled and away and that's always the turning point for me, now it's the dark half of the year. Autumn is absolutely my favourite season and i look forward to the first wearing of knitwear.

sophistitroll · 25/07/2025 23:05

Yes and am beyond gutted. I love summer so much

FrenchandSaunders · 25/07/2025 23:09

I’m in a tent and it’s chilly!
Seems ages since I snuggled down with lots of covers as it’s been so hot at home.

ExponentialDelivery · 25/07/2025 23:11

Yes unfortunately. I'm pleased it's cooled down a bit, some of the recent heat was far too much but I'd be happy for the long hours of daylight to last all
year round, I love being outdoors all evening. I haven't sat in the living room in the evening for about 2 months, outside till it's time to come in and get ready for bed, so much more relaxing than sitting indoors.

SnowFrogJelly · 25/07/2025 23:13

NO

SnowFrogJelly · 25/07/2025 23:14

Miserable thread

YelramBob · 25/07/2025 23:16

I live in the foreign and I'm pissed off with this. It's getting dark at 20.30 but we've got a whole other month of 35c before it starts cooling down.

Autumn, winter and spring here are lush though 😊

ninjahamster · 25/07/2025 23:18

Yes I commented on it today to DH. It’s a relief to me as I detest summer but I can understand that for others it’s depressing.

CandyCane457 · 25/07/2025 23:25

Funnily enough I noticed it for the first time tonight and commented on it to my boyfriend!

I adore autumn and get so excited for autumnal decorations, the crisp chill in the air, pumpkin spice everything and the falling leaves/lovely colours. But it is something I want to look forward to in a few weeks, I’m not ready for summer to be over yet. Although that said, the weather at the moment is how I really don’t like it…warm and clammy but not nice sunbathing weather. I’d love a few more weeks of lovely sunshine to sit out and enjoy. When it gets like this though and it’s just hot and stuffy with no nice sunshine I just crave the autumn chill!

Neeeemo · 25/07/2025 23:46

Yes, hate it.

Same here. I bloody hate autumn and I hate winter even more.

Travelfairy · 25/07/2025 23:52

I absolutely love Autumn. Can't wait, I love when the evenings are darker as its much quieter and calmer in my area.
